@sartoric It says “can now get”, doesn’t necessarily mean “have to get”. Unless there’s some bug somewhere forcing users to revert back from the auto detected HR each time.

Also would vote for the Race S as you should be used to AMOLED from the Apple Watch. The OHR works very good, much better then on the 5 or 9 Peak. No crazy readings for me, even if it doesn’t sit above the wrist

I am closing this as we do not need multiple topics on Watches from other companies. Please comment here as there is an ongoing discussion. https://forum.suunto.com/topic/933/competitor-watches

Thanks! For me it is pure stress when I have to wear a watch in bed. So I do not do it anymore. Over the years tracking health helped me nothing. So I am very happy to not do it any more. Just Outdoor sports. HR Zones during sports, I like much.

One more here leaving Suunto… in my case for Garmin (again) I like to try watches (always one in then one out so I only have one at a time) and moved Garmin to Suunto some months ago. I love the Vertical, in my opinion it is the most beautiful sports watch that exists, as well as one of the most comfortable and with the best screen. But… SW issues and not having a Web version of Suunto App made me return to Garmin this time.

@Raippakari You are right, I had a bad timing bringing this argument. Fortunatly Suunto also starts to be competitive regarding price and features, so maybe we will still have reasons to buy Suunto Watches in the future. Just not the same like before. With underwater route on the Ocean, value proposition of Race S & 9PP and the new Zonesense feature I think some Garmin and Coros customers will also be green with envy

@gerasimos well yes but do we need a watch with 16 days (ocean) of battery power? Or is it enough to get at least 7 days (race s)?

@marvelousspeedy I am tech geek one could say, but the Fenix/Epix line is so confusing man that you do not know what you’re buying Sapphire/gorilla/solar/not/3 sizes/garmin e…… I think even Garmin is confused

@Audaxjoe ah that’s great to hear! I think watch and computer is sensible for long tours, but I really like not having a bike computer to look at… 2025 Project: Suunto Audax. (Plenty of time to persuade Suunto to sponsor!)

@martintrail I have played with the tought of a vertical 2. I personally dont think it will come this year (considering it has only been in the market place since June 2023). I think its a tough sell to a consumer to upgrade a premium device after just a year, but a 2 year product refresh/cycle is reasonable I think. I doubt there will be a budget friendly version, because the Race S already ticks all the boxes. And if you have particular battery concerns / requirements then there are already fantastic solutions and options sitting above the Race S. Seeing that the Race S has a new optical heart rate sensor, I would assume that by the end of next year we see a revised RACE and VERTICAL lineup which includes this update too. Just my two cents

@surfboomerang, thanks for the insight. I think for me, minus having a marine chart on my wrist I’d be looking for some sailing specifics, like timers, I’d love to be able to create an offshore route to sail, Speed Over Ground, Wind speeds and direction, something like tack assist. Beyond the marine specifics I think Suunto does everything I have now and really want.

@Sempre-Avanti said in Show me your face: Here comes my watch face and not as pretty face [image: 1720183211760-1000000819.jpg] [image: 1720183221540-profilbild.jpg] Suunt is totally new for me and I should change brand a long time ago. It works better for me than Garmin Fenix 5 I had before. Better late than never! I switched 10 years ago.

The older models are likely still available through resellers but it’s pretty common for companies to only promote their current models on their own site. There are some older models in the refurb section. My guess is the 9pp will possibly drop a bit in price to make way for the Race S but I do agree they would benefit with a product around the €200 - €250 mark to draw in new customers. I took the dive with a 5 peak when they were on sale as it was a safe way to try a brand I was less familiar with - and I was very happy with the move and am looking forward to the Race S.
