Pairing problems with Android
-
Hi!
Yesterday i opened Suunto app on Android phone to sync activities from watch.
I was greeted with a screen where I was supposed to log into my account again.
After I logged in, I noticed that my watch was no longer paired with the app, so I went to pair it again, but i got error “Failed for some reason.”.I tried to do all troubleshooting steps that are in support manual:
-
deleting paired devices from phone
-
turning off “Do not disturb” - was already off
-
turning off “Airplane mode” - was already off
-
turning on “Bluetooth discovery” - was already on
-
turning off “Power saving” - was already off
-
deleting paired device in Android bluetooth setting
-
restarting Bluetooth connection on android
-
restarting phone and watch
-
deleting suunto application
-
turning on all possible notifications on Suunto app.
So what happens when i try to pair:
- Suunto application finds device - I get “Found a device” with watch serial number and button “Pair”.
I touch “Pair button”, and pairing starts, but i get “Failed for some reason.” message. I guess i should get message with PIN number, if I am correct? I tried enabling all possible notifications, and I installed Notisave application so i can see if some notification showed up somehwere in background, but I don’t see anything.
Also, I tried pairing watch over phone bluetooth setting, and this works, it shows PIN number on watch and I can pair it, but of course, then I can’t pair it with application then.
Any help or other steps i can try? I tried it like 20 times, with restarting phone, device, deleting app, different settings etc.
Regards,

@markeczzz To pair over Bluetooth was the only possibility for me to pair the watch with the phone, as I had the same problems for like an hour. Have you tried AFTER this procedure to delete and reinstall the app and to restart the phone and then again to reconnect with the app?
-
@jannis Yes, Suunto supported told me to do that, but same thing.
For some reason it seems I can’t get that PIN screen on Suunto application. -
@markeczzz you probably did, but did you also remove the pairing from the watch itself?
-
@isazi There wasn’t any paired device on watch, list was empty.
Suunto supported told me to try factory reset of watch. I tried that, and now my watch is stuck at “Continue the setup on your phone”, and same error on phone.
Suunto app can find the watch, but can’t pair it, i still get “Failed for some reason.” -

@André-Faria Same thing.
I will try later to install Suunto app on tablet and sync it there, since right now I can’t use watch at all as its waiting for phone. -

Ok, I got home and i tried pairing with my Samsung Galaxy Tab A (SM-T585) tablet.
Everything works ok there, same Suunto application version. Suunto application finds watch, I click “Pair”, Suunto app immediately shows PIN window and watch shows PIN code and I can pair it.
Unfortunately, this isn’t really a solution, as I want to have my phone paired with watch and not with tablet, but I guess it will work until Suunto fixes this. -
@markeczzz I will keep you posted.

Just reporting that workaround found in topic about Google pixel and Suunto 9 Peak Pro watch worked also on my Xiaomi 11T Android.
