Vertical Completely Unresponsive

have the same on mine today… “Service Mode” is what i get, also after pressing 12second upper button. didn’t manage to get more out of it. so probably need a replacement as well… will report.
-
…might be coincidence or not… i had a run in very strong rain just before it died… before i only had sun runs with the vertical. however… i mean… they are made to swim and dive even, so rain can really not be a problem i think.

@Thomas-Hertz
we’ve had this topic recently and I can not imagine the Vertical to die because of water, unless there’s ingress. I am sure also Suunto does an end of assembly test, hence the chance is minimal -
@freeheeler Maybe a bad batch? If water is the issue my watch would certainly have died already.
-
update: letting the battery die, then reconnect to charger, doing another soft-reset leads to a working Vertical again. So for now it seems to be fine again.
However it’s leaving me with a bad feeling going forward… lets see… -
@Thomas-Hertz same thing happened to me thought the thing was toast

@xczone Contact support, probably best via chat in the app and they can help you out.
-
@jasonc try to press the buttom more than above 20-25 seconds…

Don’t know if this come of any help, I had similar issue today - my Vertical went dark while charging and was completely unresponsive. Nothing worked until I started rubbing the charging sensors underneath for a few seconds and then suddenly watch started working again.
Curious if that was related or not -
Hi, I am encountering the same blank screen
I have a Vertical Solar Titanium, brand new, 1.5 months old, never had encountered any issue at all.
During a snorkelling session, very soft, the watch started to glitch and became more and more unresponsive, first the central button was not working, then the upper, then I tried to reboot it by keeping pressed the button, and it went off completely. Now it is “dead” with no signs of life.Nothing is happening even if connected to the charger, the 12 seconds don’t do a thing.
I have been suggested by the support to hold the upper button for 60 secs while charging, with no luck.Do you have any more suggestions, except to send it in Finland to check it? It must be software related, the hardware is almost perfect.

the same problem with Suunto Race, just service mode screen, watch just has been send to service in Prauge, im waiting already second week and nothing happened. I really thougt it is silly easy problem that will resolve in few days but not
-
Same happend to me, Suunto replaced watch. Mine SV TiSol was 6mo old.
-
I had the same situation after sending it for the second time in a total of more than two months for repair, today they sent me a new unit, my Suunto vertical solar, it was one of the first made in Finland, the unit I received was made in China, maybe it is my perception but I have the feeling that the titanium has another finish, it would seem of lower quality, I hope not to have more problems and be able to enjoy the adventures and training!!

@Manuele Hi, interesting, this year I had 2 holidays where I snorkeled. My SV Ti Solar in both holidays stopped working. Unfortunatelly there were fw updated in both cases at the same time so it is difficult to find the root cause though. First it ended up in an eternal start loop and second I also encountered problems with the upper button, as well as solar charging. First, HSH authorizes service center in Prague flashed fw and everything was ok. Later I received a new watch as a settlement of my complaint. It was only a few days to the end of my 2-year warranty period. I suspect snorkelling or too much sun could at least contribute to those problems. Now I have nearly one more year to find out it the replacement watch will survive another snorkelling session.
-
@Milan-Šádek It’s funny, my SV was also a few days away from turning two years old, and it was after a snorkeling session that it started to fail. The only thing I should clarify is that after sending me the new SV unit, they told me that I only have a 3-month warranty. How did you get them to give you the two years that correspond to a new product?
-
@Max-maxilifeguard Hi, in CZ we have standard 2 years for new products (in B2B it is only 1 yesr though). In the service protocol there was a note that they provide 12 months guarantee for the repair. The repair was done via changing the module, thus I hope I do have 1 more year.
-
@Milan-Šádek Yes, it’s the same here in Spain, but the curious thing is that the note they sent me with the new watch, which is in its original retail packaging, clarifies that I only have a three-month warranty. I’m contacting customer service for clarification. Since it’s a new unit, as if I had bought it in a store, they should give me those two years of warranty. I hope to get a satisfactory answer.
-
@Max-maxilifeguard I used to work in this area. As a rule the replacement does not restart the warranty. You will be very lucky indeed to have this extended after work. I never heard of a manufacturer extending warranty.
I think guarantee on work is not the same as a new warranty.
-
@Audaxjoe yes, I can also confirm the warranty, even for the new replacement product, ends as soon as the original warranty is over. It is only the service center good will to prolong it.
