Vertical Completely Unresponsive
-
Just to update this, Suunto replaced the entire device. It took about 2 weeks from sending my dead Vertical to getting a replacement.
-
@jasoncuddy Hope the second attempt treats you lots better! When things work as intended, the Vertical is a magnificent device
-
@jasoncuddy Hi. So it was a new device, not repaired? Curious as thought these new Suuntos were supposed to be repairable to reduce carbon footprint.
-
@mikekoski490
For sure sending a new watch and repair the returned one later will speed up the resolution of the RMA with less waste of time for the customer -
@sartoric and what s with the CO2 Footprint?! 🥱
-
@GiPFELKiND
Well, who knows if the one sent was brand new or as new, and anyway it was already made, I don’t think they built it for the occasion and even if they did it, based on Suunto’s claim, Co2 has been compensated -
@TurnberryHai Just want to chime in that I had the exact thing happen to me the other day. Put it on the charger. Came back and the screen was blank. Had to do a long press to get it to come back up.
-
@mikekoski490 It looks box fresh to me. It was just the watch device itself in a small plain box with no other accessories. I am sure Suunto have a separate inventory for warranty claims.

have the same on mine today… “Service Mode” is what i get, also after pressing 12second upper button. didn’t manage to get more out of it. so probably need a replacement as well… will report.
-
…might be coincidence or not… i had a run in very strong rain just before it died… before i only had sun runs with the vertical. however… i mean… they are made to swim and dive even, so rain can really not be a problem i think.

@Thomas-Hertz
we’ve had this topic recently and I can not imagine the Vertical to die because of water, unless there’s ingress. I am sure also Suunto does an end of assembly test, hence the chance is minimal -
@freeheeler Maybe a bad batch? If water is the issue my watch would certainly have died already.
-
update: letting the battery die, then reconnect to charger, doing another soft-reset leads to a working Vertical again. So for now it seems to be fine again.
However it’s leaving me with a bad feeling going forward… lets see… -
@Thomas-Hertz same thing happened to me thought the thing was toast
-
-
@jasonc same experience happen to me. Watch is less than 6months old
-
@xczone Contact support, probably best via chat in the app and they can help you out.
-
@jasonc try to press the buttom more than above 20-25 seconds…
-
Don’t know if this come of any help, I had similar issue today - my Vertical went dark while charging and was completely unresponsive. Nothing worked until I started rubbing the charging sensors underneath for a few seconds and then suddenly watch started working again.
Curious if that was related or not -
Hi, I am encountering the same blank screen
I have a Vertical Solar Titanium, brand new, 1.5 months old, never had encountered any issue at all.
During a snorkelling session, very soft, the watch started to glitch and became more and more unresponsive, first the central button was not working, then the upper, then I tried to reboot it by keeping pressed the button, and it went off completely. Now it is “dead” with no signs of life.Nothing is happening even if connected to the charger, the 12 seconds don’t do a thing.
I have been suggested by the support to hold the upper button for 60 secs while charging, with no luck.Do you have any more suggestions, except to send it in Finland to check it? It must be software related, the hardware is almost perfect.
