A question to the the ones who already have worn the new Vertical. I am very interested in the Vertical and would like to take it also as an every Day watch.

What do you think from the size point of view?
From the spec it is a bit smaller than the S9 Baro.
I tried the S9 Baro once in a store and it felt too massive on my wrist.
Tried also the Fenix 7 and this just fits. But thats not the watch I want 🙂
How does this watch feel? On the pictures it looks not so massive and chunky than the Baro.

      Thanks

@harry08 I think the best way to find it out would be to test it in a local store?

@harry08 I have been wearing one for months now, and it is comfortable enough. Not as comfortable as the S9P or S9PP, but more comfortable than the Baro in my opinion.
But yeah, the best would be to try it on in a store.

@harry08 The 9 Baro seemed especially beefy because if how the band was integrated into the watch. The Vertical has more if a traditional band/lug integration, so it takes some of the visual “weight” off of it. Specs might not be all that far off from each other, but the vibe/feel of the Vertical is much more approachable.

The Vertical is comfortable for everyday wear, and it’s far less “tactical” looking than the Fexix series, which I think is a big strike for everyday wear for the Fenix and does a lot to help with the Vertical’s versatility.

              Thanks for the feedback.
The problem with trying it out in a store is that in Germany there are not much stores available having Suunto watches right in the store.

There is one big outdoor shop in Basel / Switzerland which has Suunto watches.
I hope they will get a few in stock. Let´s see. I obiously have to wait a bit.
Ordering and sending back is not really what I like.

@harry08 If you tried Fenix 7, then you already know the answer, kind of. The Vertical is under 49 mm in diameter (Fenix 7 is 47 mm, just a bit smaller). The thickness is 13.5 mm for Vertical though vs 14.5 mm for Fenix. So, the latter is beefier, something you’d definitely feel when wearing it under dress shirts, for example. Last but not least, F7 Sapphire Solar weights 73g vs 74g for Vertical Ti. The same.

In other words, if you found Fenix 7 acceptable, Vertical should be roughly the same or maybe even a tad better comfort wise. I think with slimmer profile, larger screen, and nicer 22mm bands like microfiber, it would definitely win on the everyday wear comfort front.

(S9B is da beast. I think specs quote it anywhere from 51 to 53 mm in diameter and 16-17 mm in thickness, it’s really closer to diving watches than running ones. To me personally, Vertical is still more of a mid-size watch like Fenix than larger ones like S9B, Vertix 2, or Fenix 7X)

@Tieutieu I have been wearing my Suuntos 24/7 since 2013 (Ambit,Spartan, 9P) and never felt any discomfort. The Vertical goes on on Monday and stays on… 😀

@harry08 I have had the Vertical for some time now. My preference for watch size is the S9PP. However, the titanium version of the Vertical is very light. I do not think you will have any problems. I had an Epix2 for 9 months and find the Vertical fits better and is easier to wear sleeping. I would strongly suggest the titanium version as the steel is heavier and I think will bother you more.

Thanks for all these answers. Really a nice Forum.
Sounds so far very promising for the Vertical.
I didn´t think by now about the Titanium one. But it could make sense.

don’t know if someone remarked it but it’s not possible to compare the vertical with other one on the suunto website.
Ready for the pre-order and the checkout (similar to acquire it).
                                  But not possible to compare.

@cemoi71 Hi. Response below which I think may help:

                                    1. Here is a link to the Suunto Comparison table. You can add up to 3 watches and Vertical is included.

                                    2. If you are talking about just the differences between the 2 Vertical models, well…there are only 2. Titanium/Solar or Metal/Non-solar. Other than the material and solar and weight, the features are otherwise identical. But, you can still add the 2 different models into the comparison table above.

                                    Past Suuntos: X-Lander/Observer/T6/X9/X10/X6HR/CORES/Ambits/Spartan/9P/9PP Ti/Vertical Ti

                                    Current: Suunto Race Ti

The diameter of the S9B is 50mm, the main competitor that I can think of that’s larger is the Garmin Enduro which is 51mm

@MiniForklift You forget Fenix 7X. And which S9B? The design went through a number of iterations since the official launch in 2018. The watch did slim down a bit but I doubt my S9B Titanium from 2018 os smaller than 51-52 mm.

There could be more on the Garmin side of things, I’m not familiar with the Fenix range as there’s too many variations and they confuse the hell out of me. Yeah my S9B is from 2018 as well (the gold version that came with a leather strap)

I didn’t know there were larger sizes than 50mm so you may be right, I have only ever seen 50mm described on Suunto’s web pages and as their official specs for the S9 Baro 🤷

@MiniForklift Nice drawings! But what is it your signature saying about reality? I had to find an old engineering caliper and pull my S9B from an honorary retirement into The Drawer, but here you go! Pardon for freedom units:

So, here we have 2.025” (as in inch), which should come to about 51.5 mm (51.435 mm if we are being really fastidious).
