@harry08
it is definitely going to be my 24/7 watch and will go thru every activity and adventure with me!Same for me !!
-
@Tieutieu I have been wearing my Suuntos 24/7 since 2013 (Ambit,Spartan, 9P) and never felt any discomfort. The Vertical goes on on Monday and stays onā¦
-
@harry08 I have had the Vertical for some time now. My preference for watch size is the S9PP. However, the titanium version of the Vertical is very light. I do not think you will have any problems. I had an Epix2 for 9 months and find the Vertical fits better and is easier to wear sleeping. I would strongly suggest the titanium version as the steel is heavier and I think will bother you more.
PM me if you want more information. -
Thanks for all these answers. Really a nice Forum.
Sounds so far very promising for the Vertical.
I didnĀ“t think by now about the Titanium one. But it could make sense. -
@harry08
let us know how you decide or if you need more info.
side hint: Switzerland is small -

On Monday ?? Expeditions are planned on Tuesday 16th ?! I preordered on suuntoās website a 10;10 on Tuesdayās launch. No expedition information received yet
-
donāt know if someone remarked it but itās not possible to compare the vertical with other one on the suunto website.
Ready for the pre-order and the checkout (similar to acquire it).
But not possible to compare.
Done on purpose ? or forgotten? -
@cemoi71 Hi. Response below which I think may help:
-
Here is a link to the Suunto Comparison table. You can add up to 3 watches and Vertical is included.
-
If you are talking about just the differences between the 2 Vertical models, wellā¦there are only 2. Titanium/Solar or Metal/Non-solar. Other than the material and solar and weight, the features are otherwise identical. But, you can still add the 2 different models into the comparison table above.

(S9B is da beast. I think specs quote it anywhere from 51 to 53 mm in diameter and 16-17 mm in thickness, itās really closer to diving watches than running ones.)
The diameter of the S9B is 50mm, the main competitor that I can think of thatās larger is the Garmin Enduro which is 51mm
-
@MiniForklift You forget Fenix 7X. And which S9B? The design went through a number of iterations since the official launch in 2018. The watch did slim down a bit but I doubt my S9B Titanium from 2018 os smaller than 51-52 mm.

There could be more on the Garmin side of things, Iām not familiar with the Fenix range as thereās too many variations and they confuse the hell out of me. Yeah my S9B is from 2018 as well (the gold version that came with a leather strap)
I didnāt know there were larger sizes than 50mm so you may be right, I have only ever seen 50mm described on Suuntoās web pages and as their official specs for the S9 Baro
-
@MiniForklift Nice drawings! But what is it your signature saying about reality? I had to find an old engineering caliper and pull my S9B from an honorary retirement into The Drawer, but here you go! Pardon for freedom units:
So, here we have 2.025ā (as in inch), which should come to about 51.5 mm (51.435 mm if we are being really fastidious).
-
@NickK Well, if this gonna be that kind of party
I got 50.5 mm here (so yeah, still larger than the 50 from official specs) >>>
I bought mine in 2021 direct from Suunto.com.

That drawing was taken straight from the Suunto NZ site, itās on the page for the S9B Titanium Limited Editionā¦
However interestingly I have just found out that the S9 Titanium was possibly made as a 51.5mm modelā¦
No idea why but that would explain the size of the one that you have

I bought mine from Suunto in 2018, and as you can see the styling of yours is quite a bit different. Kind of more streamlined.

Possibly? You are attaching the very measurements that say 51.5 mm diameter and a whopping 17 mm thickness. And didnāt I show you the picture of a measurement done here and now on the actual Suunto 9 Baro Titanium from 2018? I havenāt even removed any EXIF data from the image, because Iām that honest

Because back in 2018, the diameter of 51-52 mm wasnāt uncommon. Fenix 3 and Fenix 3 HR were exact same size. Ditto for thickness. 15-16 mm was considered perfectly normal. In fact, Fenix 3 had just 1.2" screen inside all that bulk.

@NickK gotta admit, I love my ābeastā watch.

Same! Iāve bought quite a few watches from most of the competitor brands but have always come back to my trusty S9B. But having said that I literally canāt wait to get my hands on the Vertical
-
@MiniForklift
@NickK
@TrailEyes
you guys are awesome š„³ ā¦when I read about sizes, I thought that the X-Alps design might have the largest body of them all and wanted to pull out my metric nonius caliper that is always at hand on my homeoffice desk, but you already did thatfor me the Vertical is the new beast! body to screen ratio is great
-
@Tieutieu retail shops have it in stock already, but they canāt sell it before Tuesday. I have one reserved and can pick it up Monday end of day.
