Suunto Vertical is here

@cosme-costa Thank you!

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos
One question, with the battery it has, has it not been planted to have an AMOLED screen or is that prepared for a future version? -
@Jose-Luis I think you are confusing a little bit here. The battery is not like something we had to change to achieve greatness. For all I know you cannot increase battery life just but adding in more battery like COROS did sometimes (thats why the recalls etc but that is a long story)
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos @isazi do past limitations on number of HR sensors apply to Vertical too?
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos, @isazi, I have the same question, is it (or will it be) possible to add more than one sensor of the same type - multiple power meters being the most obvious one
-
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos
It is clear that autonomy is not only increased by making the battery bigger.But he has not answered me , will there be an AMOLED version?
-
@Jose-Luis there is no AMOLED Vertical being released now, all available watches have been presented last Tuesday.

I know, but I wonder if there will be a future version

there will be nobody here answering this, even if we knew. Everyone is under NDA

@Jose-Luis I know we are all excited with the prospect of Suunto and the future products from a company we love but I do not think it’s fair to ask the guys affiliated with Suunto about future plans. I am sure they are ‘dying’ to tell people about everything but that will not bring any good right? Imagine they said yes there is amoled vertical coming in near future… this is example of shooting yourself in the leg. The sales would sink, everybody would postpone buying (well maybe not everyone since I don’t like oled at all! Shining everywhere you go especially in darker environments, eating battery much faster in the sun than mips… but again that may just be me).
-
@Hristijan-Petreski Yeah, I would sure like to see Suuntos road-map for implementing new functionalities, so if any of you NDA guys, could look the other way and leak something…
-
@Ketoohs Right yes The mere fact we have this forum and the people associated to Suunto giving us immediate feedback is a bless no other company has (at least in my experience). Yes Garmin has the forum but there is only one or 2 administrators and the answer is: I will add you to the issue so you’ll be informed… (when I was complaining about F6Sapphire that hiking HR being too low and the distance too short - but if you use walking is fine - took them 1 year to fix, and the instant pace being rubbish - never fixed except with the F7X - and they even used it as marketing accurate instant pace… wtf).
-
@isazi how about the forgotten pool swimmers? Any chance drill mode and swim style learning ( both features present on ambits) is discussed for real? No jokes this is a must for pool swimming, (avaliable S+ app is not exactly it for first point )
-
@herlas many testers do swim and ask internally what you are also asking.

Very good to know!

@Jose-Luis For you and others asking, think about how Suunto approaches products. The Ambit line was the king of trail running/outdoors for a long time. The 9 baro was the obvious successor with huge changes and the first to introduce battery life management (for me the first watch that would work for ultras!).
Then Suunto shrunk the 9 baro into a beautiful lightweight watch that is very powerful, the S9 Peak Pro ( I purchased one for myself even though I have a test version, still my favorite watch for ultra races). But, as we all knew this was a small 9 baro with improvements to GPS accuracy and the battery (amazing that this fits in such a small package) yet, nonetheless not a dramatic change to the 9 baro, more evolutionary.Now Suunto has introduced the Vertical, a game changer in the field with the longest dual band battery life of any watch! The best GNSS accuracy of any watch! And maps that are fantastic already but will undoubtably improve. This is the flagship outdoor adventure watch that follows the Ambit and 9 baro.
Suunto has never taken a flagship watch and modified it with a screen and then sold a variant. I believe they design their watches to fulfill a purpose and the Vertical is the outdoor adventure watch. My personal opinion not from Suunto in any way is I doubt we will see a Vertical with an AMOLED screen. Again, my opinion from how past development has occurred and my opinion only.

Question about new watchface. Can you switch between solar and altitude graph? Is there also air pressure?

No, presently you cannot switch. I have asked for this. There is air pressure in a widget but you can see weather as a complication!
-
@Brad_Olwin Thanks for the info. Maybe it’s possible in future. That would be nice weather watchface. I like S9B baro-watchface but it was taken away in 9PP. I know there is widget and that’s ok.
Weather forecast and maps are something I was waiting for a long time. Really glad they are available now.
