So today this happened again (why not?), not only once, but three times (set up the training > start > crash > set up > start > crash > set up > start > crash), and after the last time, the watch shows this screen:
Now I connect the watch to my PC, and Suunto Link says “Watch reset required”
I have sent the logs. Hope this help.
One month after the final straw, I can make a summary. Since the time when the watch finally ran into an error that required a hard reset, the crash/reboot has happened four times:
- 2 consecutive times (i.e crash-reboot-immediate crash) about one week later (~27th Jan)
- 1 time about one more week later (~4th-5th Feb)
- 1 (last) time today (22nd Feb)
Between those days, the watch magically survived. Despite that, the crash today was decisive, as I didn’t notice it (over-confidence ) until 45mn later when the exercise finished It also happened to a biking exercise, instead of a running exercise as usual, another reason why I didn’t notice it. I decided then to downgrade the firmware to the previous version, and hope for the best.
I will come back with another post later about the new experience with the downgraded firmware.So, three weeks have passed since I downgraded the watch to the previous firmware. Even though there is now a solution for the problem from @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos, since I promised to update the status of the downgrade, I will give it anyways, for the last time, I believe Since the last three weeks, the crash/reboot issue did not show up even once, as expected. That’s it, I think there’s no need for future update on this downgraded firmware anyways.

Okey, so to follow up me previous posts, I asked support to send me the firmware file. I’ve went through the updating process and I wonder if I was sent an earlier firmware? My watch now says v 2.20.30 and wants to update to the recent v 2.23.20.

@chargerunner
same after crash situation for me today.
The good thing though: I just remembered that you a fix for this particular issue…
So now my watch is resetted and i lost all my training modes. This the worst part for me, now I need to rebuild all that good stuff. This is really frustrating.
Since downgrading is in my opinion not an option, I really hope that there will be an update for this bug soon.
And I am convinced suunto can do it
See you outside. -
@MatthiasKlug
just to be sure: you’ve got higher fw installed than mentioned in your footer? -
@freeheeler
yes… sorry about that.
it is currently:
S9 Baro - Firmware 2.23.20 - App 4.67.2(and I updated the footer)
-
@freeheeler adesso 2.23.24
-
The hotfix has been released today.
-
@isazi How can I get the hotfix? For the 9 Peak, need to be updated via the Suunto App. For the last 3 months I have used my previous watch
-
@mr-blom the hotfix is for the 9 Baro, not the 9 Peak.
-
@isazi Do you know if they will have fix for us with the 9 peak or are we ignored. The watch is not useful for me right now. And has been like this for 3 months.
-
@mr-blom You are not ignored, Suunto is aware of the 9Peak issue. We do not know when a fix will come.
-
@freeheelerJust curious, what could be the problems with the hard reset?

Sorry to say, but if it is like that during three months why not either reset or sent to warranty? A watch is supposed to work, so either some glitch that reset can solve or bad unit. If it was a widespread bug on s9p more people would come here to tell.

Same problem here, started 3 weeks ago, while cycling, S9B is restarting and goes to Arrow Down, only hard reset is possible. tried FW 2.18.20 through the latest 2.23.24. Problem persists, sometimes even whithout touching the watch after sucessfull reset-update (watch is in language select mode). i assume the protocol-logs are also deleted after reset…

Dears,
Hope that this is the right thread. The issue happened to me today. I had a long run this morning. After 47minutes of run activity (with guide app), watch restarted by itself, just in the middle of the activity. Luckily I noticed that and started a new run activity (this time without guide app). Then I ran for next 40 minutes without any issue.
I upgraded to the latest firmware just yesterday.
In the watch for the first run activity (that one which restarted) I used Guide app, which was structured training imported from TrainingPeaks.
I already sent logs to Suunto. I wanted to open the case by myself but I did not find where to do so. Therefore I would like to kindly ask @isazi , whether you could do it on my behalf.
I sent logs from SA. My user account is zadow@seznam.cz -
Any updates on what Suunto is doing about Suunto 9’s crashing all the time? Lol I tried selling mine but nobody wants it…And I don’t blame them. Anyways I find myself playing with my Suunto 9 and I’d say every 5th or 6th activity it crashes while loading apps, guides and sensors (hrm, STRYD, etc.). Like I said I only play around with it here and there and haven’t taken it for a run or ride in a long time because it’ll crash and it takes forever for the GPS to reconnect. Lol I tested it the other day and it took a solid 30 minutes to reconnect to GPS. Not that it matters, but I’m just curious if they’re still working on this or have they moved on? It also sucks because I really liked the update that added Suunto Guides. Mine didn’t have problems until the update that included marathon/half marathon race predictor.

@TyreseJ4 I would be happy if the just offer the last stable firmware without guides…

@André-Faria Has anyone done this and confirmed that this is a solution?
