When in a sport mode like running, hicking or so, are you able to see the compass?
@Pierre-yves-Colle proposes a more comprehensive solution but at the moment …
Breadcrumb screen -> Options -> Bearing Navigation will provide an integer degree compass*.
(*Stops Route/POI navigation and could be clearer.)

Incredibelly super marvellous …
you will make my journey … or my year !!! if you deliver themI hope having not make things to sophisiticated and just respecting yoru own logic
… and I’m a 9 BARO owner … so do not make me the trick / joke to release this only in a PEAK one but not on a 9 BARO … otherwise … send me a PEAK for BETA testing … or reward for ideasJust one point : have you noticed that i added a graph on temperature ?
the look & feel is the same it is may be “just” the acquisition of T° data regularly to put in place … but it could be nice to see the trend … may be a gadget here … or… if it is during an exercise could be interresting to capture and see if the human performances are not influenced by the temperarures -

I wish I would be in some kind of Suunto dev or design team but rather I’m quite far from headquarters or even with high quality engineering skills to apply for.
My proposals are only as a user, it’s been long long time since being in the international sports career and even being an active sports person my wish is to be heard from Suunto and with luck get all these options available for everyone to enjoy.Sorry if I sounded differently. My design and marketing skills helped me somehow focusing the ideas I have putting them together as improvements to capture in a graphic form to be understood.

@pierre-yves-colle I think there may be some listening but, there are those here that can communicate with the Dev team. If you look through the forum at past requests and how they have been solved, you will see Suunto tends to make long range, more global changes IMHO. Typically those changes are deeply integrated into the devices and overall design. One example is wireless offline syncing, asked back in the Ambit days. This required new hardware and a completely new mobile app. And, it wasn’t just wireless offline syncing that was integrated but wireless offline route loading as well. Given how few new watch faces have been introduced in the last 2 years, I doubt that extensive changes to watch faces will occur and I expect if the requests gain traction, which they might you may see them integrated in ways you did not expect. From my perspective of owning Suunto’s for a long time, I appreciate the deep level of integration the development team strives for and not as some competitors that pile on features poorly integrated into the mobile software and operating firmware. This is just my opinion and my observations.

Hello Brad, this is my fear …
Being marketing oriented they may go for features that they think will be “fashion victim” and future target but not for those already ownign a SUUNTO … you sell much easier a very new watch design totally different than just some adjusments … somehow I understand them, this is normal … but in another side … beign an IT guy since now 30 years and used to design, code and improve GUI, what I’m suggesting is not rocket science neitheir revolutionary nor going in the opposite way of their logic and last but not least … if the code was an open source available one, I’m convinced that I could have released in the same time what I’m suggesting that the time it took me all to document and think to all these posts since now 2 weeks … so … a small effort indeed …
But OK let see how it evolves … .it will be very interresting now to cool down and observe … it might drive future choice for a future acquisition either staying with SUUNTO or if others show they do better … to go to competition … COROS seems to become better and better … but I do not like to go elsewhere without having given all the option to stay. One point SUUNTO should take care … Being proprietary is most surely the right approach – I though a lot to this and finally I’m convinced it is the good choice – but another nordic company who was by far TOP 1 made the exactly same mistake … and sunk … NOKIA … listening to users’s ideas and still having a small task force to move ahead and deliver is not a high cost but keep them in movement … nothing is worht that being static … it can kill you hyper fast especially when you discover that the other have moved suddently to a place that you were thinkign they cannot reach .
I leave this story of NOKIA very sadly as it damaged us a lot … this is also why even if honestly I have nothing so much to gain I’m still proposing improvement …
and also for the beauty to activate the brain and dream ::-)Let’s see
-
@pierre-yves-colle there are at least two people working for Suunto in this forum. There may be more, but I don’t know them
But hey, this forum is mostly about the user community, it provides a feedback to Suunto but is not how you contact Suunto if you need to talk with someone at the company. It’s in primis where you talk with other users, and where you follow the beta program of the Suunto app.
-
@mister-pyc Nokia didn’t fail for that.
Nokia failed because the lower rank employees didn’t raise their voice to their faulty managers decisions.
-
@isazi
They will remain top secret otherwise … poor guys … they will be under assault
My just point was … I hope it is not only a forum for nothing and we talk talk talk talk … forever … we valuate betwteen ourselves our ideas … but no-one is on the other side of the street -

Humm humm … a little bit more complex … I was not far from this story … my cie was having N… for more than 30% few years before they collapse and fortunatelly for us our ceo command to diversify as too dangerous … still I let you imagine what a 30% customer is interconnected with its supplier what was the side effect …
They failed because they did not saw the wave coming and too sure that by having the more robust better material will always be the driving factor …whereas many people may choose a competitor product only on cosmetic aspects …
Looking to the watches … this market is evolving now COROS is here … a chinese cie … and we never know what will be their next move …
What is strange by the way … when you look to comparison articles on the web … I’m sorry to say that but none is serious … I was reading some yesterday between COROS, SUUNTO, GARMIN … some which were the most with content … and despite that you have the feeling that the guys who tested it were just with the watch for few hours or even minutes and did their paper based on the marketing docs … no-one for example valuate the usability of the watch GUI … for example when you read on COROS Vertix … the guy tells you that it is THE watch for mountainers … and when you try to get why … it is just because he saw that above 2500 m the watch compute your oxygen level and tell you if you could continue or better do a stop … well well well … I prefer to reserve my comment on this … -
@mister-pyc I think this has been mentioned before.
This board has been founded by Suunto to listen. And it continues to work this way.
Still there is no direct way into development with high priority just because one is shouting louder than others. -
@mister-pyc it’s not for nothing if we talk. There is a ton to learn from people in this forum, about watches, sport, life, training.

And who knows …
…hummm …
…what made you believe it could have been me ???

There is lots of ways to take all these ideas, improvements, proposals, whatever you want to call it, being realistic or not for the company interests now in short or long terms.
One certain thing nowadays is the companies are no longer in charge in high percentage (unfortunately for them) of what they produce, design and what it’s going to happen next next.
As a little fact and funny example, imagine expensive and powerful cars like ‘Lambo’ and Ferrari with its endless history fight between their founders. One day things turned, already happened, and got to got for electric engines (unfortunately soon) instead of amazing sound combustion engines… Would you keep against the current because you say so, would you follow the market? It may sound easy but I’m sure it is not for a brand.
Another tragic story of Spanish motor brands: Years ago, there used to exist Ebro and Pegaso (vans and trucks) and Bultaco, Ossa and Montesa (motorbikes). As many other companies that failed around 60s-80s the lack of focus, market vision, money to invest, techonogy and listening to the market needs ended up with the total failure of their amazing products. Now, here comes the sad thing when you open wide a japanese motorbike engine of any brand. They are all a replica of the first Spanish models. The japanese took the idea, copied its core along with development and improvement they became the best motorbike brands. Not trying to criticise or anything against Suunto, just saying that the market is evolving everyday, of everything really, now from some years ago and bearing this trend for many years coming there would be a moment that if you are not capable of doing what I really need you become useless.
Do you think your Suunto watch should be tactile? What for when you are skiing with big gloves, cycling at 40km/h or maybe running a marathon, should be a must for a good use and performance? I don’t think so, it is just a response of a trend and if you are not in it, you are out and forgotten.
We can see that in many ways, social media (remember Google+), new amazing products or not so good, if this thing is not exactly what the market needs now maybe it is not the time for it and becomes useless. If you bring something that was needed only some time ago, it is again useless.
I can imagine myself the strive of every tech company brand. I work for a different branch of business in the marketing-design-image area and I can say the pressure is high, the rivalry is tough, the price to be the number one is rampagin and all this fight is to bring the final user the best product, the price and the best experience.
I’m sure if there are listeners, here in this forum or somewhere else where they take tips for improvement, the company is smart enough to do the best they can to at least ‘please’ every demmand on their interest and for the good of all both old and new customers because it is more difficult to get a new customer than to make happy an old one. Here is an example of one that never had another ABC or GPS watch rather than Suunto, even had the chance to I preferred to keep with.

SUPER INTERRESTING TO READ
So this site is not only pure SUUNTO products oriented … but also to ahve very good discussions and exchanges of ideas … goofd!!!
BTW …
I’m a harley davidson biker … so it rings me a bell when you talk about sound of the engine …
Also … I like the touchable screen, quite ncie even if I agree with you the use of it is more a “city” one … and I noticed that when I swim the tactile screen is becoming no more tactile at all and do not obey anymore to your finger … same if there is some rain on it … it is not a big problem per say as the same can be done through the buttons but still some may see this as a problem
I saw COROS approach with there scroll wheel and I may like it also …Concerning you thoughs, you are very right !
I will not say it is the market which is such changing but the people today are no more satisfied during a long term about what they have … it is true for their toys, cars, but also partner unfortunatelly (nothing personnal here) … all is becoming just a consumer object that you may thrown very fast even if the next one is far more expensive but has just one more gadget that everyone talk and indeed is pure martketing … this is our new life …
Are we not deviating from the initial post ???
Let’s come back on it : I hope a lot SUUNTO DEV boys and girls listen here because nto only we are suggesting some improvements that we we love but we are already telling them that they did a fanstastic job and we like their watch … we just want more … well … we are aligned with this new world … even if I do not like this high abuse of ressources so much …

If you like bikes, have a look at those Spanish classic old firms, I’m sure you will find some really interesting models.
I got myself an Ossa 350 from 1973, exactly as the one in the pic:

Would be great to see other proposals of interesting designs for new watch faces.
Any new or better ideas of how could new watch faces look and work?
I would love to knoe if there is any way that Suunto could try this new feature in the phone app by choosing watch faces from a more extense gallery options and customise them in same or similar way as we do in sport mode screens.
With that I could say that by 100% there is a massive positive feedback and greater interest and better user experience on the S9s family.

I think that we should not forget that as a company, Suunto, almost for sure has a structure that consists of people paid to benchmark/innovate/testers.
I don’t believe any of those persons, testers included, had never said to suunto “hey guys, maybe you should have customizable watch faces”. It is just suunto that decided to focus on another thing first, due to their limited resources.
I would say, for example on accuracy of gps…If accuracy of gps is more important than watch faces, only market can tell, and that is a decision of suunto to do it that way.
Although we think that watchfaces are “simple”, I believe that may need intensive testing to pass Suunto standarts, for not having bugs/drain battery.
I would be happy if at least the data fields were customizable or I could have any data once I tap. But if they haven’t done it yet, for sure there was a reason.
