Suunto Race S Sleep Tracking not working after latest update
-
After installing the last update, I noticed my Suunto Race S is no longer tracking sleep.
I got it and HR tracking enabled.
Wrote to support, and they said it’s a known issue and they are working on it.
My only questions are:- Did anyone else notice this issue?
- How is it possible to release an update that bricks core functionality on the watch? is QA that bad?
-
@Sorin-Jurcut Strange, for me it worked on Race S - every night so far. Standard question: Did you try to turn it Off and On again?

Hi,
Same problem here ! Sleep tracking is not working on my Suunto Race S since last update… -
@SphericalPoint did your watch got reset during the update? Do you have sleep tracking enabled?
-
My sleep tracking is working every night, I did lose my custom sports settings but that’s about all I think?

I’m also seeing sleep detection issues after last firmware update, before never had a single issue.
To your question @isazi my Race S was full reset when last firmware got installed, turned everything on and first night after it didn’t record any sleep so I did another hard reset and sleep was detected the next night just fine but then it has started to be very unpredictable, have done a few soft resets but not working flawless as before. To me it’s clear I’m part of the group seeing regression with sleep detection since last update.
When no sleep is detected, looks like HR is not recorded during sleep either, but I think led is on though.

@Sorin-Jurcut Mine also stopped working. It was working before the update, but now is intermittent.

@herlas I would agree with you about the regression.
It seems like there are two groups.
Some that the sleep detection just works with and they are constantly mystified that others of us have these issues. They mean well with advice like “soft reset” or “turn off and back on sleep detection”. None of these are long term fixes.
The other have been in a constant battle with getting it to just work. I have even worked with support and they are not able to get it to work.
This is coming from someone who has used Garmins, COROS, Oura, apple watch and whoop. All of the others just work. There are occasional differences, but nothing like the slot machine that Suunto sleep tracking is for some.
This could be vastly improved if they just put in the optionality to edit our sleep times. I dont care about phases, but for recovery some sense of hours slept would be an improvement.

Same here, it never works fine for me - always showing that im awake at least 1h even if im not.
