@Egika race 2 currently costs 500 euro on suunto.com while it cannot reliably connect to basic bluetooth sensors. That concludes on the overpricing.

we are discussing about Race 3 and Race3s in this thread and I understood you were referring to these watches as being overpriced.
Now you say you think that Race 2 is overpriced. This takes the discussion into a way that leads away from the topic…
What makes you think that Race 3 and 3s are overpriced?

t6, S6, Elementum Terra, Ambit 3 Sapphire, Spartan Ultra Copper, Traverse Alpha, S7 Graphite LE, S9B Ambassador, S9P Titanium, S9PP Titanium, Vertical All Black, Race Titanium Charcoal, Race S Titanium Courtney, Run Lime, Race 2, Vertical 2 Titanium

@Egika they will not be priced less than that, and I can only assume the same software platform is going to be used for now.

To add: so you don’t deny race 2 is overpriced.

To me the race s 2 and race s are overpriced, so what should make me think race 3 will not be overpriced.

Race 1 was great deal when released. Perfectly priced.
Race 2 higher price for new OHR sensor - mostly (few more things). Price is “okay”
Race 3 we dont know price but for sure will be even higher than Race 2. Or they just change regular price of Race 2 to be lower. No idea what new functions will Race 3 have, but if there will be subscription (monthly pay) plus no new major things and price will be much higher than Race 2, i dont know how many people will buy 3 instead of 2. Not to mention that when Race 3 will be released, Race 2 may get discounts. Iam interested in the way Suunto will go and what will bring.

I’m hoping very very much that the Race 3S will be with a Sapphire glass.
The Race S is the only one in the lineup with a Gorilla glass and a friend have it (he had a 9 peak before) and its scratched like crazy while my 9 peak pro is looking brand new, Sapphire is pretty much a dealbreaker for me.

At least for the titanium version it would make sense

I’ll never buy watch without Sapphire glass. That’s reason I didnt get Race S. All my Suunto watches were scratched (bezel) but screen always like brand new.

@Egika I am really interested on how the prices turn out. If you look at the hardware specs and software capabilities and compare it to smart watches and smartphones, the whole sport watch market is completely overpriced. And no, it is not justifiable by all the pseudo metrics that are supposed to help you get fitter. I suspect that the whole market just follows the greediness of Garmin irrespectively if it is justified😅

@brave_dave if people buy…why shouldn’t the other brands do it?
Fenix 9 was announced 25/8, I can tell you that on the 26/8 vinted was already “flooded” with Fenix 8s…

We can criticize garmin, but for sure something they are doing ok for having the fan base/recurrent client.

Regarding Race 3/3S, I hope they maintain the sleek design of race s, and that they get and hardware/platform whatever that allows them full potential updates/features in case today that is an issue…

While garmin starts to be “too much” in terms of features/metrics etc, I believe suunto could benefit from a just tiny bit more of features/customization baked in firmware (live track, resume later, more options of complications on watchfaces, etc)

You base your verdict on price on your experience and price of a totally different model, and state it as if it was a fact…

To add: so you don’t deny race 2 is overpriced.

Because I try to stay on topic I don’t comment Race 2 price. But at the same time the watch is working well for me.

To me the race s 2 and race s are overpriced, so what should make me think race 3 will not be overpriced.

Because it is different in price and features should.be enough.

@André-Faria yes, people buy the premium Garmins because there is basically no competition that came close to their software features over the last years (on device routing with complete maps at a time where all the others were still using breadcrumb routing, on device music with Spotify/Amazon music, Garmin pay, seamless third party integration like Zwift…, bike computers…) Garmin build up a reputation over the last ten years by offering software functionalitoes and an ecosystem that others simply don’t have. Even though they are overpriced, they can sell their units.
But I don’t think that it is a good strategy to follow such a high price point if you are not on par. If people are willing to spent that much money, most of them probably rather spent 100-200€ more to get the Garmin full package or buy a smartwatch. If the price difference to the competition would be higher, maybe more people would look towards the competition.
