Software Update 2.40.38 (2025 Q1)
-
@timecode yes, I saw this yesterday, and I expected the release of the new firmware next week… this would be soon, too… but not less than 24 hours later
-
@sartoric Looking at previous updates, internal tests weren’t quite working. That’s where the idea for some additional public testing came from.
-
@SuperFlo75 yes, already mentioned that above. I hope next time we will do it more in advance
-
@Stoke80 Yeah, me either.
-
@pavel-samokha
Auto compass calibration no longer seems to work with this update.
First time I’ve been asked to do so since it was implemented (had GPS locked & been out for a walk but still wants me to manually calibrate).
-
@maszop
Sure, a wider test base is better to find some edge cases, but that doesn’t mean that the FW is released untested. -
@steoreggia what counting issue? My Apple Ultra and Race S are almost equal every day…
-
@Jeffrey-Tillack
Also my Race is much better than Garmin F7Pro, which was counting steps while tooth cleaning, ironing, etc… -
Guys, relax. Suunto plays on the safe side. This time - a day before the public release, next time - a week before. Remain calm, no need to rush
-
My Vertical is now much faster when scrolling through the settings. Great job!

@Stefano-M64 Got the of Route Warning Yesterday quite quickly just about 20m after missing a turnpoint by decision. This was on the 9PP. Maybe it comes a bit late.
mmm, I’ll give a try again in the afternoon, thanks
First try of going off-route (at ca 90 degrees; perpendicular) with my Race S, nothing happened for a long time. It felt like an eternity so I returned, thinking you were right about this being a bug. Afterwards I can now see that I was 90 metres from the route. Second try, also going 90 degrees off-route, I had switched to a data screen showing running distance. The warning about being off-course came at exactly 100 metres (in this scenario).
Regarding the Turn-by-Turn prompts: Setting the Map display at 25 metres I could see, on the watch, that the turn prompt indeed was initiated at 20 metres. But in the physical world my body then already was ca 5 to 10 metres from the turn - this while running at 6:30/km to 7:15/km on gravel roads, trail and technical trail (Avg NGP 6:31/km). Even with this slow pace it felt as quite abrupt turn reminders.
SuuntoPlus ZoneSense App has been updated 2025-03-20 and now are not blocked while running a second S+ app (tried with TrainingPeaks - Run) AND following a route at the same time. Previously this made ZS display ‘waiting for data’ until the second S+ app was disabled.

Hi,
after the update, the accentuated color doesn’t seems to work on some of the watchfaces, it remains white.
-
@Jeffrey-Tillack my wife’s Race S doesn’t count around 80% of her steps, if we go out together on a walk and I make 10,000 steps in my Race, she only gets around 2500/3000 on her Race S.
We have already tried switching watches and the result is the same, Race S undercount most of the steps
-
@sartoric I hope there are many people who test the firmware, but looking back the last month I would say, they didn‘t test enough
-
@Łukasz-Szmigiel The update has already been rolled out to everyone, at least from the number of phone calls I receive.
-
Any information about when the new watch faces will be available?
-
Here is my quick feedback after just coming back from a 44km road bike ride :
- even if i’m a reaaaallllly fast rider, the 20 meters turn notification was useless at every turning point. It arrives to late ; I was already turning whe the alert was diplayed
- no more full screen alert might be a good idea, but I missed it
I would have rather kept the full screen notification (unless when two turning point would be distanced from less than 100m) and have a reminder maybe for bike 50 or 40m before turn instead of those 20meters.
For the rest, watch works flowly !
Let’s test further, with trail running when my ankle will be back -

Exactly! Looks like most of us agree that a single notification at 20m just isn’t enough for anything over a walking speed. I thought for sure that the omission of the initial ~100m notification was a bug or mistake, but, according to this chart, it is as intended.
It feels like Suunto is trying to reinvent something that doesn’t need reinventing. Just copy what everyone else does and give us two turn notifications: one at enough distance to give us a heads up and one at the turn as a reminder.

I haven’t installed this update yet, so I haven’t been able to test the new TBT mode.
But doing the math:
· Running at approximately 5 min/km, the turn notification (20-25 m before) should appear about 6-7 seconds before the turn.
· Riding MTB at approximately 20 km/h, the turn notification (20-25 m before) should appear about 4-5 seconds before the turn.
· Fasteners, at approximately 30 km/h, the notification would appear just 3 seconds before the turn.

@enriqueescoms
And if you ride with a higher speed, the notification will appear after you take the turn
