Suunto Vertical: Bug Collection
-
@Brad_Olwin It’s software. The bugs will appear when you least expect them

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos thank you for more detailed insights. less than a week sounds very good. fingers crossed.
I don’t blame Suunto. I’m not saying that you guys did not do your job during testing. I know how hard (and almost impossible) is to deliver faultless product.
I experienced the same issues as others are describing, so I do not judge based on what is written here only. And I know, that contacting support will not help me.
I just wanted to say, that there might be big improvement to have list in this thread of acknowledged/known bugs (or you can call it whatever name you want) with possible workaround, so we do not have to discuss the same thing over and over.
example:
Huge battery drain during activity: do not use two S+ apps together and do not use weather widget. -
@dombo
I didn’t have the impression that you’re complaining, rather commenting and sending logsI sometimes also wish for such a list, but it is very dynamic and if people use the search function, they will discover issues, what works, what not and get confused.
I think all critical issues are reported and being worked on to have them solved within reasonable time -
@dombo Such a list would prevent a lot of duplicate posts here
-
@surfboomerang
I don’t do such a list with my customers or service technicians either. they report, I’m aware, I evaluate and decide and solve internally.
I prefer the teams to focus on solving, rather than communicating -
@freeheeler Understandable, but from a customer perspective it is a bit different I think.
When you deliver feedback about the feature behavior it is not clear sometimes if it is a user error, it is by design or if it is just a bug. When Suunto investigates and acknowledge that it’s a bug, people stop searching for a solution and wait for an update.
If it’s not acknowledged, people start speculating in all directions. Acknowleding the bug can also give the customer the feeling that their feedback is taken seriously and they will likely provide more feedback in the future instead of bashing the watch or brand. Also a short list can give users a quick overview of issues before they post about the same topic again. Especially new users can benefit from it.

I think i have found a bug :
When you chose dark mode on a sport mode, it’s been applied to all sports mode
-
@surfboomerang I do want to acknowledge all of the moderators as well as volunteers on here who are trying to answer questions as best they can on behalf of Suunto - Suunto have a small staff, and I do rely and appreciate the feedback and community driven tech help on here more so than a corporate response via email.
Much more timely and real life, and I trust they are feeding peoples concerns here back to Suunto.
I think its very unique and I like it a lot.
I am one of the lucky ones who so far has not really had any issues (1 soft reset for maps and they have been good since then). Also remember initial reviews by DC Rainmaker etc were all good and I know that DC Rainmaker will report issues if he gets a device sent to him with pre-release buggy software, so lets hope those have issues are just a random few.
I also know from working for big companies that people with issues will be 90+ percent of the discussion, and well less than 10 percent pipe in with positive stuff! There are a LOT of Suunto Vertical users out there (didnt the first batch sell out?) with no need to come to this Suunto forum because their devices are working just fine.
…just my 2 cents.

Dont know if this counts as a bug, but I’m a little surprised that the GPS accuracy on my Vertical is noticably worse than on my 9PP. And that’s with best accuracy enabled. It has me walking through buildings, has me walking in the middle of the street or in my neighbors yard. My 9PP isn’t perfect either, but it’s better.

Is the blood oxygen sensor functional? It doesn’t measure during the day and makes one record at night - always 100% - compared to a medical device, it’s nonsense.
Sleep measurement - I go to bed at 10 in the evening, wake up on the toilet for a few minutes at 3 in the morning and the watch makes a report, even when I go to sleep again. Instead of 8 hours of sleep, the watch will show only 5.
-
@Walter-Samuel I get the same blood oxygen reading as my past devices (garmin coros Suunto) overnight. Usually between 91 and 98. Maybe try a manual reading during the daytime.
Also make sure you set your sleep time do not disturb parameters. Mine is set to sleep at 11am and wake 630 am.
-
@mikekoski490 Garmin was showing me between 90-92%. SV always shows below 90% during the day.
My sleep time is set to 22-06.
-
@dombo I really hope that there will be an update soon… I can’t rely on the software yet. for example today for the first time I couldn’t see a map while walking… I had to save the activity. I then switched off the Suunto+ apps and did a soft reset (30 seconds). After that everything went again… but it was very annoying! I hope they get it under control soon…I mean 800 EUR

My vertical has been 99% excellent . Only glitch has been missed sleep by a few hours on a few nights it gets it most nights. And the resources had the 0% issue one day.
I don’t use pulse ox prefer they didn’t include this how many people actually use this? I just switch it off like I assume most people do
-
@gone-troppo Pulse OX is useless, it always reports 100% during night without any other graph or data.
-
Hm, GPS tracks still don’t look very multibandish to me. Kinda wobbly and offset by several meters.

Are you talking about old ambit vertical ?!
Just kidding. My tracks are just awesome, including on steep and covered terrain. Are you in best gps mode ? That’s the only mode with dual band. -
@Ilya-Sul Can you share your conditions, type of activity, data and details like buildings/mountains etc? I have been super impressed with mine so far (did an out and back bike ride in the city yesterday and my outgoing and reverse tracks were are almost identical and show no wavering - Vertical on wrist). The one below is exactly how I rode through a short park and criss crossed an intersection from 2 different directions.
-
I’d say conditions are moderately challenging. Suburban environment without high rise buildings. My 9PP handles my walks much better atm.
Let’s see what the upcoming update’ll bring to the table.
-
If there is no hot fix soon, I will open my SV and spray it with raid.
