@morskilav I see your point but I do disagree. I have stated this before, the FB features on the S5 require additional screens and I simply don’t want those, nor would I use the FB features much. Perhaps a good solution would be for Suunto to offer the FB licensing as an option when purchasing the watch. That way we would both be happy.

@Brad_Olwin The Ambit2 and Ambit3 series of watches do let you edit the POI during the process of adding one on the watch itself. I had a Vertical model before switching to a Spartan. I thought I remembered doing this and recently reconfirmed this with an Ambit3 owner on another forum just to to be sure. I’m thinking of switching back to an Ambit3 Peak from my Spartan. Never been totally happy with my Spartan and it seems Suunto is never going to add back some of these features I consider critical for my use. I’ve been waiting 2 years now and still can’t do this on the Spartan. Not that they ever promised they were planning this feature, but for backcountry use, it’s kinda important if you ask me. Now with an impending move to SA from MC in the next 12 months, and zero indication that I’ll even still be able to do POI from a phone or web app…well, I might as well pick up a Peak that can function standalone if I have to. Garmin is not an option. Their GPS accuracy on the Fenix line of watches is questionable. And Garmin evidently can’t get altimeter accuracy figured out either. So it’s back to the Ambit3 Peak I guess for the most functionality. Better GPS over both the Vertical and Spartan, and I can manually enter a destination right on the watch from a map or mapping software on my phone. And if Suunto ever gets off the pot and does this right, maybe I can move back to a newer model.

@vietpq yes, the same was true for me (I don’t use my S9 any longer). It did some nice tracking but when it failed (and unfortunately it failed a bit too often for me), it failed really hard when Glonass was enabled. E.g. it placed me up to 200 meters away from my current position and that also affected navigation because it was just too much off the right track. On a side note: I also use Glonass with my new Garmin 945 and it never had that problem (about 20 runs up to now). So if this is on Sony’s side, maybe you get better results when they integrate the changes they did for Garmin in the GPS firmware. If it’s on application-code side, well then the guys at Garmin are doing something better.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos From Suunto’s legal perspective it should be definitely better to note it on manuals (and I guess they pay attention to this) and that’s why I supposed it was ok to press it

@Chocksta I agree with you and Egika. To me the Ambit3 is the solid, 2 color display, no touch functions etc do-it-all watch. I would rather call it the Defender than the Cayenne… Before I bought the Ambit3 Peak I came from the Fenix3 which, to be honest, is a beautiful and well working watch. I almost bought a Spartan Ultra back then but noticed that the Ambit3 Peak is more what I need. (…and yes, I would like to keep and with fully function use it for many many years…!!) But here is the point. We can not all be product managers and be in-depth informed about all single features. If you spend weeks and hours to learn about all the pro’s and con’s of the watches… what do you do when you need a new car then! As the Spartan family and now the 9 are smart watches everything is possible. Suunto just has to listen and adapt the programming. I think it is very helpful to go back to watch mode and the basic functions of a watch without stopping an activity.

I’m not fussed about units, also being British, Its about time the UK gave up on imperial It would be great if the location could be set like on the movescount app and even better if it took the location from the current phone GPS position. I’m not sure if the app will sync if you have no mobile data available which is often the case when you’re on a liveaboard trip away from any mobile phone masts. Would be great to sync your dive with the phone on the boat and set a GPS location, then the phone can sync to the cloud when a data connection is available again. Bearing in mind though, you may have 20-odd dives on a liveaboard trip before you get back to land. Would also be nice to add a dive number to match your real logbook dive number so you can easily cross reference. Sadly, I’ve lost faith in Suunto delivering a decent mobile app, particularly for their dive products, so I won’t hold my breath!
