Hi everyone,
My name is Paolo, I’m a former professional athlete and at the moment I’m trying to enjoy my retirement with hiking and cycling.
Due to an accident I lost my right leg so I was given a Genius x3 bionic knee prosthesis from Ottobock. I manage this knee with an app on my smartphone. With my app I can know the exact number of steps, manage the movement of the knee (more braked for steep descents or freer for running and pedaling). More than a suggestion, it’s a sort of a secret wish of mine, but I would like my knee to communicate with my Vertical to manage at least the most basic functions… on some occasions using the smartphone isn’t exactly easy.Paolo

Could be an idea for an S+ App

It is possible to program Bluetooth communication into S+ apps.
You just need to find someone who is able to do so on a system level.
And you need to have the full protocol specs of the leg. I wonder if this is publicly available? -
Do you just want to read information, or do you want to change settings using the SV? I could imagine that the latter is more difficult for security reasons – maybe Otto Bock support is needed so that the S+ app on your SV is accepted by your prosthesis as a second controller besides the smartphone app.

It would be nice to have the possibility from the watch to at least choose walking and cycling mode. At the moment to change mode I can use the app on the smartphone or spring on the prosthetic foot a certain number of times… Neither of the two methods is very convenient given that when I’m on a bicycle I put the phone in a pocket behind my back and depending of the route I don’t always have stable ground to jump on…
I don’t think ottobock releases the code, the x3 knee was developed together with the US military and has an exorbitant cost… this makes me think they are quite jealous of their projects -
@OnlyoneKenobi I don’t think they have to release the code. Only what signal switches the prosthesis in mode A and mode B, respectively. And how the SV authorizes itself as a „trusted controller“.
