Suunto Vertical maps should have toponyms, road names and symbols (e.g. water springs)
-
Hi guys,
as the title says I find maps on my new Suunto Vertical “incomplete”. They should have toponyms and symbols just like the maps on the app, otherwise is difficult to navigate to far points in the maps without using the phone.Ps I’d like to zoom out 1km - 2km and 5 km too, 500 meters is just too few for map navigation.

@General_Witt I think most of us Vertical owners have voiced your requests in other posts, so try and take a scan or search for these same topics/issues. In short though, YES, many have asked for these features, and are waiting for the next firmware update to see if they will be realized in some form or another in the next few months.
Fingers crossed.

@mikekoski490 I tried to search for toponyms and symbols before posting. I’m happy if this topic has already been treated in other threads.

@General_Witt Try searching a more generalized word like ‘map’ or ‘maps’ instead of ‘toponyms’ might be a good start?

it is one of the difficulty of such a forum : lots of “requests” / “comments”, are spread along other discussions, and one need to read almost everything to know which are keywords to search.
Testers may confirm, but it has been effectively written somewhere that “maps” in SV are effectively about to be reworked to add more “data”. No clue what, but it seems that something in that direction is coming. -
@Mff73 I do not know about maps being reworked or more data being added. There was a public survey not too long ago (definitely after the Vertical release) asking customers what they wanted more from maps, and there were many options, like nautical maps, road names, and so on.

@Mff73 yeah- my comment was based on those surveys. I don’t know if something about this is actually cooking
