Vertical Completely Unresponsive
-
My Suunto Vertical has literally just stopped working. Any advice for reviving it?
Went for a run earlier with plenty of battery, then was just sitting here, checked the time and itâs a blank screen - wonât respond to any button presses - just dead. Soft Reset and attaching the charger does nothing.
-
@jasoncuddy little more you can do, except sending it back.
-
@twekkel Thanks. Will send off in the morning.
In the meantime the best I can get is this âService Modeâ but pressing the upper button for 12 secs just makes the Vertical unresponsive again.

-
Happened to me today after charging. Blank screen and unresponsive, but fortunately a long press on the upper button rebooted it.
Rather buggy watch.

Eexactly this happend to me as well - (but this was an âovernightâ charge) - next time i will recharge during daytime
luckily rechargeing is very rare, due to the awesome battery and solar panel. -
Just to update this, Suunto replaced the entire device. It took about 2 weeks from sending my dead Vertical to getting a replacement.
-
@jasoncuddy Hope the second attempt treats you lots better! When things work as intended, the Vertical is a magnificent device

-
@jasoncuddy Hi. So it was a new device, not repaired? Curious as thought these new Suuntos were supposed to be repairable to reduce carbon footprint.
-
@mikekoski490
For sure sending a new watch and repair the returned one later will speed up the resolution of the RMA with less waste of time for the customer -
@sartoric and what s with the CO2 Footprint?! đ„±
-
@GiPFELKiND
Well, who knows if the one sent was brand new or as new, and anyway it was already made, I donât think they built it for the occasion
and even if they did it, based on Suuntoâs claim, Co2 has been compensated
-
@TurnberryHai Just want to chime in that I had the exact thing happen to me the other day. Put it on the charger. Came back and the screen was blank. Had to do a long press to get it to come back up.
-
@mikekoski490 It looks box fresh to me. It was just the watch device itself in a small plain box with no other accessories. I am sure Suunto have a separate inventory for warranty claims.

have the same on mine today⊠âService Modeâ is what i get, also after pressing 12second upper button. didnât manage to get more out of it. so probably need a replacement as well⊠will report.
-
âŠmight be coincidence or not⊠i had a run in very strong rain just before it died⊠before i only had sun runs with the vertical. however⊠i mean⊠they are made to swim and dive even, so rain can really not be a problem i think.

@Thomas-Hertz
weâve had this topic recently and I can not imagine the Vertical to die because of water, unless thereâs ingress. I am sure also Suunto does an end of assembly test, hence the chance is minimal -
@freeheeler Maybe a bad batch? If water is the issue my watch would certainly have died already.
-
update: letting the battery die, then reconnect to charger, doing another soft-reset leads to a working Vertical again. So for now it seems to be fine again.
However itâs leaving me with a bad feeling going forward⊠lets see⊠-
@Thomas-Hertz same thing happened to me thought the thing was toast
