      New owner of a beautiful Suunto Vertical, I’ve had the opportunity to do several trail, running and hiking outings with it.
      On my trail and running activities, I paired it with my Garmin HRM Pro Plus heart rate monitor. Pairing was very easy, but I had a signal loss problem, as you’ll see from the curves below: the HR measurement stops randomly before the end of the activity, and doesn’t come back.

      The activities are done in personalized modes, the second with wrist HR measurement activated, and the first with measurement deactivated. The belt’s battery level is good, the battery is recent, and this is confirmed when I connect it to the Garmin app.

      Have you encountered a similar problem? Have I missed an option somewhere?
      Thanks in advance!

          Yesterday my Vertical acted as if the upper button was stuck. It was not physically stuck; I was still able to clicketyclick the button, but the display kept scrolling up. I could scroll it back down by pressing the lower button, but as soon as I let go it scrolled back up. Soft reset did the trick.

            After trying the Race, I just received my Vertical. First turn on and I already find myself with an error message, it starts well, I really have no luck with Suunto! I pressed the top button for 12 seconds to restart it.
            I have paired it with the app and will install the latest update. I hope I won’t have any problems later…

              @Rami13 I have used an HRMPro extensively with my Vertical and no issues. A couple of common problems with straps are getting dry in the winter and not sending good signals or interference from static on tech type shirts.
              I always thoroughly wet my strap with water where the contacts are, not just wet the contacts but the entire strap. That works well enough until I start sweating. I have not seen the issue you have.
              It might be a battery issue as well, do you know the battery status of the strap?

                @Brad_Olwin

                THANKS ! Yes I hope.
                I received it this morning and our story got off to a bad start (see https://forum.suunto.com/topic/8846/suunto-vertical-bug-collection/664)
                I ran for 8 months with a Fenix 7 Sapphire Solar (73 gr), it didn’t bother me, even in competition (10km, half marathon and short trail).

                I always use a belt during sporting activities. Never used 24/7 for tracking.

                  Well, I think this is the end of the Suunto adventure for me. After using a Race and its unreliable HR sensor, I ordered a vertical.

                  I’ve been wearing the watch for 72 hours and I’m experiencing the same problems with the heart sensor but on top of that, there are stability problems (2 crashes), and totally fanciful step detection! I spent the morning sitting at my desk and the watch counted 2000 steps, an incredible heart rate. This data being integrated into the recovery algorithms, resources, etc. Everything that results from this will turn out to be false in the end.

                  Even if I love the design, the comfort of the watch, the simplicity of the application, putting 6/800 euros into a tool dedicated to helping athletes who are not reliable, I am not ready.

                  I might come back if this is all made reliable.

                    @Fizzgig You do seem to have bad luck…

                    I wear my SV all the time, and whilst the step counter is a bit ‘optimistic’, it is not so different to my Ambit, or my Coros Apex Pro, and I can still compare day to day what my activity level is.

                    The OHR, on the other hand, is very reliable for 24/7 operation (for me), and sleep tracking is ‘close enough’ for it to reflect how I feel about my sleep (although last night I was awake more than it thought, which is unusual for both of us!). I accept that maybe Suunto wrist OHR is not the best on the market, but it continues to be sufficiently reliable for me.

                    Different strokes for different folks…

                      @Fizzgig Same for me: the OHR is often delirious, with resting data 2 times higher than normal. similarly, when I walk, the cardio goes up to 120 pulses, even though I’m not jogging… I’m hoping for a rapid software update on this subject.

                        I’ve been comparing my Race with my Vertical and it seems like I’m more likely to see the spurious readings with the Race. Now, is it how it rests on my wrist differently or is the firmware any different? Hard to say.

                        But I know that sitting at my desk and glancing at my Race and seeing my heart rate at 120 bpm is very disconcerting. Switching watches with a Fenix 7x, a much bulkier watch, never shows that.

                          @seanvk

                          Yes clearly! Especially since all the data collected is used for algorithm calculations. I’m coming out of a day at the office with a site visit this afternoon with 6810 steps. 3500 this morning while sitting from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. (with a passage through the coffee machine which is 25 meters from my office…) Even when washing my hands, the simple act of moving the handle, the watch counts 190 steps and a heart rate between 90 and 110 bpm.🤣

                          I stopped and restarted my watch to see if that would fix the problem, nope. I find myself with higher resource data than before the shutdown, a lower TSB and CTL as well (certainly the update of day -1 data)
                          I don’t have a very high sporting level ( 36:30 in 10km and 1h24 in half marathon but all the data displayed in the application are absolutely false.

                          The only correct data are: sleep time, time, pressure and altimetry.

                          Quite frankly, I expected much better from a Suunto watch. I was ready to make some concessions but this is too much!

                              Curious on your definition of “high sporting level” given those times 😄

                                I’m 45 this year and I don’t consider myself ultra sporty. I have been cycling for 15 years and running for 3 years.
                                Before smoking 2 packs of cigarettes per day 😜

                                That being said, this doesn’t help my issues with Suunto watches. I tried garmin and coros before coming here and never had a single bug or crash. The values (although to be taken lightly) seemed more reliable to me. I don’t need all the gadgets offered by competitors. I don’t even use call or text notifications. I just need to have sleep monitoring data (I have a little sleep apnea), heart monitoring and I like to know the average number of steps I take per day.

                                            Clock alarm didn’t wake me up this morning. Don’t know if it’s related, but I’ve been draining my battery since the last sw update (and it’s been going down suspiciously fast) and it was showing 8% when my wife woke me up. But whatever the reason is my everyday 6:40 AM alarm didn’t go off.

                                            Anyone else noticed the alarm not being reliable or if there is a relation to low battery?

                                            EDIT: Actually right now at 7:50 AM I saw an alarm, but vibration was missing! So the alarm may have been showing at 6:40 under my pillow, but I’d say a silent alarm is pretty damn useless 😁
