Question about new watchface. Can you switch between solar and altitude graph? Is there also air pressure?
No, presently you cannot switch. I have asked for this. There is air pressure in a widget but you can see weather as a complication!
-
@Brad_Olwin Thanks for the info. Maybe it’s possible in future. That would be nice weather watchface. I like S9B baro-watchface but it was taken away in 9PP. I know there is widget and that’s ok.
Weather forecast and maps are something I was waiting for a long time. Really glad they are available now.
-
I too am excited for the weather forecast. One small addition or request is to maybe add a couple of days (even 3 will suffice) not only next hours. At least that’s what the reviews showed.
-
@Brad_Olwin Hello Brad, this is my first post in this forum, but I´am reading since months. I found the following picture. Are you sure with the altitude-graph?
Have fun in the wild!

@SirMcKey watchfaces may change with a future update.
-
@isazi Sorry for the ‘stupid’ question but till now I have always used my S9B with only one sensor (HR). Am I correct to assume that the watch (Vertical) can connect to multiple types of sensors? So I would like to connect it with bike and HR or maybe in future (if there are good offers on stryd) with food pod and HR simultaneously.
-
@Hristijan-Petreski, yes, it can connect to multiple sensors of different types simultaneously. E.g. - HR Pod + Foot Pod or HR + Power … but it can only be paired (for now) with one sensor of the same type E.g. only one bike power meter (the good thing is you can pair a new pwr sensor without needing to unpair the old one).
-
@Hristijan-Petreski Hi there. Im not sure 100% if this is what you are looking for, but with my current Suunto 9PP, I can connect heart rate belt AND speed/cadence sensor at the same time. The single connection I think people complain about is Suunto cant connect with 2 different heart rate belts for example and can only deal with one, but you can connect multiple types of sensors?
I assume Vertical would carry over this feature.
-
@mikekoski490 and @Freezer Thank you very much this is what I was interested in. Multiple sensors of the same type at least for now I do not see much value in it. Keep in mind I am mostly runner and just recently joined the Gravel bike mania so I am of no need to have multiple sensors of the same type. If I use another HR sensor I just re-pair it so no problem there. Cheers.
-
@Brad_Olwin let’s hope they shrink this also.
-
@SirMcKey The steel version of the Vertical has an altitude graph and the Solar version a Solar graph. I would like them interchangeable as I would prefer the altitude graph over the solar graph. Hope this answers your question and my answer may not have been clear enough.
-
@Brad_Olwin +1 for me as well. I would definitely prefer an alti graph over the solar graph. Not sense in seeing a zero on the graph for 90% of the time!
-
And the user guide from DCR is here:

@isazi A temporary solution to simplify the use of different sensors, before (if) multiple sensor support comes, would be to add the possibility to pair a new sensor right in the menu at the start of an activity (e.g. like the option to calibrate power meter).
-
Possibly a stupid question or one that’s already been answered, but will it be possible to keep my S9B paired in the Suunto app along with the Vertical or is it just one or the other?
-
@MiniForklift You can pair and switch between multiple devices but only one is connected and synced at a time.
-
@NickK Thanks, that’s great to know

Wow so many people going for titanium solar!!! I ordered stainless all black can’t wait been a long time ambit 3 peak user. Few things of concern I have noticed in review
1.optical hr accuracy seems poor from all reviewers
2. V02max estimate for dc rainmaker well below all other watches. Do we know if suunto is still using old algorithms for V02max ie not taking into account trail running and elevation changes like Garmin is with their trail running V02max? For those of us who do zero road running and all trail and vertical kilometre type stuff I’m guessing it’s still thinking we are moving very slowly with high hr hence low v02 max like rainmaker has shown as he told me he has been doing a lot of trail running lately ? -

@gone-troppo I don’t think early testers have the final release firmware? Either way things will improve with new fw releases.
