@Highlands from what I have read so far, you are swimming with your hands most of the time in the water. Or have I mis-understood?
Yes, you totally misunderstood what I’m saying. When mentioning that I keep my hands close to the water, I wanted to draw the attention to the fact that my hands are not in the water and then wonder why the watch loses contact with the satellite. We know very well during freestyle swimming when the hands are out of the water and in the water. Before troubleshooting an issue that is not there, maybe you can upload a video of your swimming style?
You are wrong on this as well. The problem not only exists but persisted for 8 days of swimming. Out of 8 days, I didn’t have a single swimming activity that was ok. It’s a two fold problem: the watch loses contact with the satellite very easily and due to that I get wiggling tracks and overestimated distances.
None of this happens with my other watch. Also I switched wrists, the problem didn’t resolve.
No, I can’t upload a video. Reasons: First I’m back from the sea holiday and second, who takes a video while swimming in the sea. Didn’t see a single swimmer doing it.
And I say it again: 1. This kind of problem ruins my pleasure from swimming, I have to constantly ask myself whether the watch is connected to the gps or not. I used to keep my watch on the breadcrumb screen in order to check out now and then if I’m connected to the gps. 2. None of this happens with my other watch. So, same swimmer, no problem with the other watch, but problem with the 9pp. 3. If managed to get back to the sea in September, I’ll definitely won’t be using the 9pp unless the issue is fixed. -
@Highlands sorry. what is your other watch?

@Highlands your case seems to be pretty special. That is why I asked for a video of your swimming (what means “hands close to water”)
Maybe you can record something in a pool?
Otherwise I think the forum knowledge will come to an end in your case.As others have stated (and what is also my experience): S9PP is performing great for open water freestyle swimming.

I tried to explain above that maybe I didn’t express myself properly with this “hands close to the water”. Just a normal freestyle swimming. Why don’t I have a problem with the other watch?Maybe you can record something in a pool?
No, I won’t record anything as I’m interested how the watch performs in the open sea. As per my understanding, I did my best after experiencing a dealbreaker problem: contacted the support and granted them access to my account to see the activities if they need/want. I have other watch and I swim with it. I’ll just won’t use the 9pp for swimming unless they fix it. I might have sold it in the mean time, I don’t know.Otherwise I think the forum knowledge will come to an end in your case.
I can’t do anything about it.As others have stated (and what is also my experience): S9PP is performing great for open water freestyle swimming.
Well, just above I think I’ve seen a post of a guy who doesn’t have a good experience either. -

Doesnt work for me.
Im just doing some beginner swims on my holiday to the buoy and back and it only works if I stop at the marker and wait for tje distance update.Ii felt innacurate so I swam 5 times. First 3 times stoping and waiting and then other 2 going all the way but without a pause beyond a second to glance at the watch.
The watch didnt track and the review in the app shows as if I did not go to the buoy. Ows seems to be like guesswork by the watch
In addition, this morning, data from the laps was noft shown during and burner was blank as well.
The track as well jumped onto shore at a certain point.I mean this post.

Did anyone buy recently a new S9PP?
Wanna go from S9P to S9PP.Are new built watches better in vibration buzzing?
Or did there something happen in firmware updates?
Would be nice to no. Thank you. -
@suuntastic I am currently using Vertical but I did go from S9P to S9PP, and there was marked improvements in speed, gps and most importantly to the readability of the screen. The vibration alerts were less crazy as well from memory, and I believe it has better ability to upgrade to newer firmware closer to the Vertical, but not 100% sure.

You will not only feel the vibration but hear it. And whole room of people too. In a crowded, busy, loud environment.
-
@Łukasz-Szmigiel so, sure nothing changed from first production versions last year to now (recent production versions)? Then I will wait.
-
@suuntastic it’s a fantastic watch overall.
It’s just mind boggling how can such thing be a non-issue while field and quality testing. The watch is assembled well, materials are premium, it looks and feels premium, and it buzzes like a 5 bucks child’s toy.
-
@Łukasz-Szmigiel 100% agree. I do not have to change immediately from s9p, which is still fantastic…

Been waiting for 10 days or so to share this. Before the last update the oHR was so terrible for me, I had begun to not paying attention to it anymore. I usually use H10, so I had given up on the oHR of my 9pp anyway. After the last update I started to notice that the oHR wasn’t the same. Yes, it took me time to actually notice it. As my H10 broke - strap is kind of torn and the sensor started to drain a new battery in just one week if I don’t get it out. Since this happened I don’t use the H10 (have to buy a new one) and I use the oHR of both my watches. The other watch is pretty much in line with H10. But the real surprise came after the update when the oHR of my 9pp started to give me way more plausible data. Haven’t paid attention to what the change log of the current update says but now I have more or less (yes, it has its pitfalls) working oHR. I’m not saying I’ll give up using a strap. I haven’t changed anything else. I wear the watch exactly the same way. So, the update brought one more good thing for me.
-
@Highlands yep and with a velcro strap it’s even better!

It was noted in field testing. The testers do not have decision making power, they simply report issues. Suunto decides whether or not the issue is fixable/ worth pursuing/etc.
-
@Brad_Olwin regardless. It went to production, I’m not blaming testers personally.
-
@Łukasz-Szmigiel and has been rendered unimportant to be addressed since.
-
@altcmd but at last we have brand-new brightness controls, every other firmware release.
