Suunto 9 Peak Pro?
-
@freeheeler Couldn’t send logs cause I was away from the shore.
-
@Highlands
you can send logs also several hours later, no need to do that immediately.
I think it helps when they know the time when the issue happened and of course time, date logs sent and account name -
@freeheeler Sorry, saw your post yesterday morning when it was too late. Yesterday we sailed with a boat from one small island to another and at those stops we swam and dived. So during those short sessions the bug I described above didn’t have the opportunity to show up again.
Today, I swam nearly 4000 m, again no bug.
The other annoying thing that kept happening while I swam is losing contact with the satellite very easily. When I swim, so that my hands are near the surface of the water, my other watch rarely if ever, loses the gps lock. On the other hand, my 9pp constantly does. I would find myself wondering, while swimming, is the watch connected to the satellite or not. Very annoying, instead to concentrate on my swimming, I have to deal with that.
And the third annoying thing that I experienced, which is a sheer dealbreaker for me, is that because of the constant loss of gps lock, the 9pp records very strange irregular zig-zag-ish tracks. That results in overestimated distance by a lot. And that has happened in every single swim for 8 days now. You get a distance that has nothing to do with reality. Today, I got 6402 m, when it’s clear for the naked eye that the distance is shorter. My other watch (notice that I avoid on purpose mentioning the brand cause it’s not about it, it’s about my 9pp giving me Mickey Mouse distances) which perfectly keeps the gps lock, recorded 3938 m.
The swimming experience I’ve had for 8 days with this watch wasn’t good at all. For my next sea holiday in September, I definitely won’t get this watch in the water if this problem isn’t fixed. -

you’re swimming breaststroke?
I don’t know how other companies do it, I don’t know how Suunto does it either
I just know that freestyle is no problem for S9PP when the watch sees some fresh air with every stroke. -
@freeheeler I swim 80% of the time free style. Still, after some distance, sadly for me, the 9pp loses contact with the satellite.
-
-
@freeheeler Forgot to mention: have tried on both wrists, same result. And as I said, I swim with another watch as well, so it’s not like I keep my wrists underwater and wonder why I lose connection with the satellites.
When you swim with the 9pp, do you get correct track and distance? I’m appalled by what I get in terms of distance. For me it’s just doesn’t make sense to fill my SA account with swim distances that I haven’t actually swam.
And by the way, how does the SV behave in OWS? Is it any better? -
@Highlands for me S9PP and Vertical both work equally well for open water swimming.
I have just completed a triathlon, where the swim went unter 3 bridges and it was tracked perfectly:

@Highlands
yes, I wanted to answer the same as @Egika , except for the triathlon …my last and only triathlon is 14 years sinceS9PP and Vertical match when recording OWS (always performance) and distance is correct, too.
-
Doesnt work for me.
Im just doing some beginner swims on my holiday to the buoy and back and it only works if I stop at the marker and wait for tje distance update.Ii felt innacurate so I swam 5 times. First 3 times stoping and waiting and then other 2 going all the way but without a pause beyond a second to glance at the watch.
The watch didnt track and the review in the app shows as if I did not go to the buoy. Ows seems to be like guesswork by the watch
In addition, this morning, data from the laps was noft shown during and burner was blank as well.
The track as well jumped onto shore at a certain point. -
@freeheeler You saw my track I PM-ed you. For 8 days in a row I didn’t get anything better. Also, not one of these 8 days didn’t give me correct distance. When you look at the track I sent you, you can very easily see why I get longer distances.
For the time being, I won’t be using this watch for OWS. As I said, I don’t need in my SA distances I haven’t swam.
Thanks for chipping in. -
@freeheeler Sent logs and spent 35 minutes with a very meticulous guy from the support. He did his best to figure out what I was trying to report. He’ll come back at me via email.
-
@Highlands wish you good luck really do. Twice they told me they’ll follow with an email, I never received anything

Have you checked your junk box
-
@zhang965 yes

@Hristijan-Petreski Well, I experienced dealbreaker issues with this watch during my swims and as I have another watch I could have easily dismissed it. But my understanding is that I have a duty in regard to other users of the watch, so I wanted to give my feedback. That’s why I granted them access to my swimming activities. Hopefully, my contribution will be of some help to their engineers.
I follow how the problem with your watch will evolve/get solved. So, fingers crossed for you and all other SV users with issues. -
@Highlands thanks man. I hope it resolves, nevertheless the taste is bittersweet since this is by far the worst support I’ve had in my life
-
Aparently I shouldn’t send email to support but fill in the repair form strait away and it generates shipping label. I would exect support to be more responsive and tell me this nevertheless apologies and big thanks to @freeheeler

What time between they telling you that they will send an email and now? I experienced almost one month (but it was for Suunto pro support) and then something like 20 days for next answer.
Guess if they had an answer they would answer before. -
@André-Faria from the first chat its almost a month (in 3-4 days). The second (2 weeks) and the third we agreed to send email to support (past Thursday).
