@skifun Not yet.

@freeheeler hi. it’s always different. sometimes I click right after the green arrow appears, sometimes I wait a couple of minutes. I didn’t have that in S9B.

If you want a good gps performance, you’d better wait the gps icon being green and stable, then begin the activity.

@Brad_Olwin “yet” sounds very good

Man, I even read the manual

@zhang965 Thanks
Still impressed with the battery life of this miniature gadget. -
@isazi Just did a 11 km city walk. FusedAlti kicked in after 15-16 minutes walking. Is that what I should expect? I didn’t calibrate the alti-baro prior to starting the activity and the activity began with wrong altitude.
The second thing I like about this watch is the alti-baro. The 2 h walk cost me 5% battery life. Still 5% available and it’s time for some push-ups and sit-ups. -
@skifun
yes, that’s how FusedAlti works -
@zhang965 it doesn’t help. sometimes I wait a few minutes after the green arrow appears.
I did a factory reset and it didn’t help. -
@skifun Hi! I wonder if you have already tried the hard reset to solve the issue with the “black tint”. Did it help?
Cheers!
-
@Artyrekb I do not have this problem with my S9PP and @skifun I like this watch I bought one for me personally. The small size and battery life are perfect for multiday trips and the ultras I run. I am quite impressed with its battery life too. If you compare to similar sized Garmin watches it is far better. In my hands comparing to an Apple Watch Ultra with dual band the tracks are nearly identical!
So @Artyrekb, this does not seem normal and if nothing fixes it I would contact support. There may be something wrong with your unit.
-
@rooldaa I did but the black tint is still there. Higher in this thread Dimi chipped in and replied to me that this is normal. I trust him. Then I got contacted by support and the guy corrected too himself that this is normal. For me, definitely not normal but I don’t care. Somehow I’ve put up with this crappy display. It is what it is. Besides two other guys wrote that their displays are the same. So, case closed for me.

@Brad_Olwin Which color did you buy? I picked up the black cause in my opinion the bezel is less visible. I don’t mind the bezel though.
The battery is truly amazing. Last Sunday I charged the battery. Now it’s at 54%. I do three outdoors activities per day in custom battery mode.
Fenix - I always pick the X version to get the biggest battery and the bigger screen for maps.
By the way, it’s 18.03, so it’s been one month since I bought the watch and I kinda like it. Definitely miss the 5 buttons setup. The stock strap that came with the watch is horrible. I need to look at some other options. I don’t like the lack of lock when in watch mode. Also, when in activity mode I find the lock function quite clumsy - first long press and then short press to (un)lock it. One long press on the down button should suffice to (un)lock.
The pedometer, the pulse ox, the ohr and the sleep tracking are complete and total thrash. They just don’t work for me. I lie in bed and this thing counts steps. The ohr is a random number generator. I didn’t buy the watch for these, so it’s not a problem for me. So far the charging cable has been fine, magnets stick fine. Is there a way when the watch is unlocked during activity to avoid marking a lap if I short press the down button?
It’s a good watch. I don’t regret buying it. -

Hey skifun. Im just putting in my 2 cents on this for balanced commentary based on my personal experience. I just recently came from Garmin Fenix 7X, and then Coros Apex 2, and my Suunto 9PP works perfectly in these areas (my Suunto 9P though WAS terrible - I returned it for the Suunto 9PP).
My pedometer matches my previous watches both for daily and or counted steps after running (actually either COROS or Garmin didnt count running as part of your steps count). My sleep score matches my perceived sleep almost exactly, and much better than my Garmin did generally. My pulse ox is exactly as reported by my past Garmin and COROS devices (faster to get a reading than COROS), and my optical heart rate sensor works the best of all three. As an example, I recently purchased a Hammerhead Karoo 2 and went on a 50k gravel ride yesterday with the Karoo connected to my Suunto Smart Sensor HRM, and my Suunto on my wrist using the OHR from the S9PP. There were a lot of bumps, climbs (700 meters), fast loose descents, roots and roads. At the end of the ride, both were identical for km’s and elevation, and very little difference on HR:
Karoo - average 116/max 156
Suunto - average 112/max 150So for me this is not total trash. That said, I’m not relying on the HR stats as part of a training plan, or competing, where minor variations may count, but the slight difference is small enough that I would rely on the Suunto OHR if pressed (I will always prioritize/use the chest HRM though).
I upvote anyones suggestion for more varied watch bands from Suunto!

@mikekoski490 I’m glad they work for you Not the case for me. I still call those complete and total thrash. Still in bed and 9pp is counting steps. How’s that even possible? OX pulse is total thrash too. Works very slowly and it’s utterly wrong. I removed the widget from the watch cause it doesn’t work anyway and it’s unusable. The ohr is garbage both in watch mode and in activity. Sleep tracking has nothing to do with reality. That’s my experience since 18.02 when I bought the watch. So far I wear the watch on my other wrist and from time to time I fiddle with the watch. When I lose my interest I guess I’ll stop wearing it and put it on the wrist only when I do activities.
Any advices for a good watch strap?
P.S. Couldn’t care less about Coros. Prefer my 9pp which is way superior watch. -
