Ever since I got the watch it has been recording only about 1/2-1/4 of my actual elevation gain. This is a problem since it seems the Suunto app only reports that the watch is a Suunto baro instead of a non-baro. Does anyone know a solution to this?

@cody-parker the altitude issue is not an issue per se, it’s more of a feature. To avoid overestimation of the elevation as well as to reduce the noise, s9 nonbaro has a rather high altitude threshold of 7m before it starts logging the elevation change. So if your activities include a lot of small elevation changes they may very well be neglected. Also bad weather conditions or thick tree cover may impact gps accuracy and with that the elevation estimation. It was also discussed on multiple occasions in this forum.
As for strava: as I used strava some time ago, I could edit the elevation profile using the data that strava pulls from the map information. Or you mean a different function?

Although not 100% your problem, maybe some threads worth reading

@cody-parker I think you want the sync to Strava to let Strava do it’s correction on ascent but it’s not happening because it’s listen to Strava as a device with barometer ?

The ascent can be corrected in Strava if the watch is recognised as a watch with barometer. No problem. 👍

@cody-parker you can correct the data by using “Adjust elevation” in menu. In Android:

Actually is a good question if Strava treats both Suunto 9 and Suunto 9 Baro as the same watch.
Could someone with S9B say what model Strava shows in the app for S9B - just Suunto 9 or Suunto 9 Baro?

@pavel-samokha Strava only writes Suunto 9 for the baro.

                  Watch: Suunto Vertical Ti

Just write to Strava and ask for a correction in the database of known watches. I have best experience with the support.

@isazi Thanks, I’ll try to report this. Our partner API documentation clearly states that they are different models with different capabilities.

@pilleus yep, if customers report this it would be good as well. Link to prod ids and capabilities available here https://apizone.suunto.com/docs/services/workout-api/operations/export-user-workout-in-fit

I have the S9B but as already stated it shows on Strava as S9. I don’t usually see a lot adjustment when I use the edit feature, it’s often less than 10m even when there’s been a ton of climb

I remember when I had the S9 (non baro), the adjustment was a lot more. Was sometimes a good 50m or so
