Turn-by-turn navigation in S9 series with Plotaroute

@markytarky tnx!
-
@markytarky Did you try reversing direction on the route? Would the instructions (WP labels) somehow adapt?
@Mff73 If not, perhaps the Suunto-Komoot version will handle this under-the-hood.

That is a big drawback. The waypoints are at the right point, you get the right notification, but you get the opposite “direction” because the name of the waypoints is wrong in reverse.
Or this is how I remember this works. -
-
@fenr1r I don’t remember Garmin routes being reversable, they definitely are not on my Edge 520. But devices with routing capabilities should provide you navigation to go back to start, or get back in route.
-
@isazi In the 530 you have to reverse the route previously, in the app or web, not possible in the device. Never tried but is what I have read.
-
@cosmecosta yes I don’t think Garmin implements the same behavior as Suunto does, with the device deciding the direction of the route based on the direction you are currently moving.
Both approaches have their advantages and disadvantages. -
@isazi yes you can reverse the route in the watch and get the correct directions, altitude profile and climb pro. At least in fénix 6x pro

True. In the etrex it was possible to do it on the device .
-
@jorgefd78 but you have to ask the watch to reverse course, right? Or you can just follow a route in reverse?
-
@isazi you’re correct
-
@markytarky just a newbie question what’s the difference between this and classic GPX you follow ?
I’m interesting if it’s help to be more precise when you have many small path to follow. -
@g287-sf well, here the plotaroute creates a waypoint on each turn a norifies you twice to make a turn. Once after you pass a WP (it tells you how far the next turn is plus the direction e.g. sharp right or keep left, etc.) and second when you reach the WP. That’s it. No other differences.

Hello.
Is Kamoot and Plotaroute the only choices to plan and upload to S9 turn by turn navigation? Do you know other possibilities?
By the way. Visual indicator would be very useful. -
So a quick question that I asked in another thread… turn by turn does NOT work on trail routes created but only on roads?

I use Locus Map and it works (just gpx import need to be done through external service (not direct import in SA) like QS or Runalyze). -
@derrick-spafford it works on everything is routable.

Thanks. Will keep trying to figure it out as it hasn’t worked for me yet and trying to find why.
-
@derrick-spafford how do you import the gpx route in SA?

I pulled the GPX route from Strava. Uploaded it to Komoot and then sent it to SA to use in watch. Route shows but no turn to turn.
I tried this with creating a planned route but also a recently run route.I have an old custom Movescount Sport mode that I use (with Optical HR disabled) that I was wondering if that was the problem, but used other default sport modes and still no luck. Did a master reset and will try reinstalling software to see if that helps.
