S9B crash during navigation.
-
My S9B crashed this weekend twice during my hike. I used navigation and everything was fine, like always, until I changed the route on the watch. Shortly after changing the route the screen on the watch goes black and that lasted for 15 sec at least, before the watch rebooted.
I started hike sport mode again with the same route and as soon as the watch got GPS fix it rebooted again, but much faster this time.
I didn’t use that route anymore, we had another device so we could follow the route, fortunately. The route was downloaded from Wikiloc and imported to SA, I didn’t transfer the route directly from Wikiloc because I use iOS and I wanted to add waypoints.
Has anybody had such an experience with S9B?
And yes, after the reboots the watch has lost AGPS, and because I synced the watch that morning with SA, app just didn’t want to sync AGPS again. Is there a way to omit that time threshold and force the app to sync AGPS again?
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I sent the logs via Suuntolink yesterday just in case, ID 2147613509737900.

@nseslija It could be a corrupted route. Try a test with another or redraw the route and see what happens. Second, the AGPS loss occurs for me too if I have a reboot, which has not occurred often.
-
@Brad_OlwinThat is what I think also, I didn’t try that route that weekend, I tried another one, the one that I used at the beginning which I created and SA and everything was fine. I loaded problematic route on Monday and everything was fine, but I was not in the area of the route…

I have just had the same thing happen, and the watch after crashing went into the screen where it sows it is updating and stuck on that screen.
When I got home and plugged the watch into Suunto Link it advised the watch needed fixing then updated the software (I was already running the latest version, so I guess reinstalled the softwear would be more accurate)
I was navigating a 50k route in reverse, navigated perfectly for first six then crashed. I carried on for around 4k without navigation, tried to load the route again and it crashed. And then went into the download screed and stayed there for the couple of hours it took me to get home.
Route was plotted in Kamoot and imported, waypoints added in SA. I do this with all routes and have never had an issue. I also cannot remember ever navigating a longer route in reverse. Could this maybe cause it?
-
@Audaxjoe No, there may be an issue with this particular route. I would delete and reimport. If it crashes the watch again remake the route.
-
@Audaxjoe is this with the lastest software ? Because the latest software does prevent the down arrow thing
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos yes with the latest softwear, updated it on 20th of December. And had the down-arrow thing after I think the third crash. Pretty sure crash was caused by the route I was following, I think I actually tried to load the route in the navigation menu (i.e. when not doing an activity) when it crashed, I think for the third time and started up with down-arrow.
I have had the watch 2 years and it has never crashed before.
-
@Audaxjoe can it be a specific route ? Could you share that ?
Also please next time it happens as soon as possible press send logs via suuntolink and paste the log id you will get here.
This is important to understand and fix the issue asap.
So keep that in mind
For now.
I need the gpx , and what app + app version you used.
Thank you

I can send you the record files from SA, both times it crashed it still saved the file. Sadly, I deleted the GPX in SA I was navigating with, can you undelete in SA?

SA version 4.33.1 release (4033001) on Android. Watch was updated on the 20th to latest version.
I have uploaded original GPX, I also added POI on the route in SA. And navigated in reverse. Navigated fine up to the first crash just under 6km in. Then I just recorded the walk and tried to turn on navigation again and it crashed as soon as navigation was selected.
As a test I loaded another route in the Navigation menu of the watch and that seems OK, then tried to load the one attached again, watch crashed again and download arrow appeared and did not go until I connected to a PC back home. Suunto Link them updated and wiped all the user data and settings from watch.

@Audaxjoe thank you
-
@Audaxjoe you don’t need to connect to sl. Next time just hold the upper button 12s
-
@Audaxjoe the Christmas gpx doesn’t have waypoints right ?
If you manage to reload it at the watch and crash the watch please send the logs !

Hi guys ,
The same problem I don’t know the but 3 restart in one route of 8Km , configuration if helps to fix the issue…
Route Create with :
https://www.plotaroute.com save to gpx and upload by https://quantified- self.io/ ( Note : Use POIS of plotaroute)
Watch config : Trail running with Climb Hill Trainning , and Route navigation.
S9B Fw: 2.13.18
SA 2.0.0 (8608) -
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos that is the original, I then uploaded it to SA and added waypoints. It crashed just a few hundred meters past the first waypoint. The route was being reversed also.
Unfortunately, I then deleted the one in SA when I got home.

Guys I’ll need logs about this. The log id. So after finishing your activity , connect to suunto app or preferably suuntolink.
Connect the watch to suunto link and press send logs. Paste the log id here.
Connect the watch to suunto app. There is a menu at the watch section to send logs. I need the time you performed the send logs and your email then.
Please try to use suuntolink as it contains more data.

Going to try and see if I can repro.
3rd party app to create route
Waypoints added in SA after import
Reverse direction + S+ features enabled -
I send logs/registers by SA

No dice in getting mine to crash w the above steps
