Suunto 9 Firmware Update Suggestions
-
A few things I would love to see in future updates
1 - Ability to change the plot time of the Alti/Baro graphs to something longer (baro 48 hours!)
2 - Outdoor watchface to automatically flip the sunset time to sunrise time after the sunset happens,
and of course switch back to sunset time, after the sunrise
3 - Hotkey flashlight. Turns the screen all white, backlight 100%, turned off again by long press of hotkey -
nice and “easy” suggestions

Thanks. The weather here in Michigan tends to move pretty slow, so getting a longer snapshot of the barometer trend is really nice.

Hi all
Hope this is correct section
I would like to set unit settings individually
In the UK we are a bit all over the place. And use a mix of imperial and and metricFor example. I would like my temp in Celsius , my distance in miles, weight in Kg, height in feet and inches etc.
I do not think this is possible at moment.

After starting the very short exercise (5-30sek.) and stopping it, ask if we want to save the short exercise or not.

this option already there.
once pushed the button to stop activity, after saving screen, there is a screen with the summary, and at the bottom, you can decide to delete this one --> not really saved, and surely not synced if deleted at this stage.At least it exists on Spartan watch
-
@Mff73 it is the same on S9B
-
@Mff73
and it is reasonable…
in case it was already synced to SA and 3rd parties you can still delete it there. And if you forget doing this, a 40 second activity will not mess up a years statistic of (in my case) around 260 hours of outdoor sports -
@Mff73 ohhh yes, thank you
-
Bumping this one back up

Major functionality updates for suunto 9 are over. Improvement for gps, maybe one option for suunto plus and that is it. Two years are passed and suunto 10 (aka) is around the corner. Suunto team will focus on that for next 2 years and partly on suunto 7 and other department on SA. Something like that

@zvonejan
I was hoping for S11… -
@zvonejan i’m afraid you’re right
-
@zvonejan It is true that real updates (with new features or improvements in GPS and altitude accuracy) are becoming increasingly rare

I’m not sure I agree. According to the support page, there have been 9 software updates since the release, and that is not little, including 3 major ones last year alone. I would expect a new update in at most a few months.
-
@isazi The last “real” update is 2.9.42. It dates from October it seems to me . For a watch that has just come out, that would do 3 updates in 1 year, nothing extraordinary …
Be careful, wanting to constantly release new models, and by stopping the development of recent models, they will end up disappointing (SSU then S9 …).
Just browse the social networks a bit. -
@Rob33 we agree to disagree then. For me 9 updates in 1.5 years is something, for you it’s not.
-
@isazi
at least 4 are minor (date change etc …).
If you find it’s normal that a watch evolves only for 1 year -1 year and a half, while the first updates are just there to correct errors of unfinished products, knowing that the price of these watches has more than doubled in a few years,
then we do not agree (I come from Garmin where my 920 has evolved for more than 3 years).Personally I am satisfied with my SSU and then my S9 but I think suunto is on the wrong track now…
-
Need gesture backlight like garmin…

@Rob33
New updates will come, we know this and you know it too. If these are sufficient, it is your decision.
But be careful not to fall into the frenzy of always wanting something new or worse than demanding it. Cell phones, in recent years, had accustomed us to updates that distorted functionality. Now the same updates are mostly about security. S9 is a great watch and, correct me if I’m wrong, bug-free. I repeat, new updates will come, but if you’re chasing something that twists S9 and turns it into another watch, then you’re waiting in vain.
