Suunto 9 Firmware Update Suggestions

@Mff73 it is the same on S9B
-
@Mff73
and it is reasonable…
in case it was already synced to SA and 3rd parties you can still delete it there. And if you forget doing this, a 40 second activity will not mess up a years statistic of (in my case) around 260 hours of outdoor sports -
@Mff73 ohhh yes, thank you
-
Bumping this one back up
-
Major functionality updates for suunto 9 are over. Improvement for gps, maybe one option for suunto plus and that is it. Two years are passed and suunto 10 (aka) is around the corner. Suunto team will focus on that for next 2 years and partly on suunto 7 and other department on SA. Something like that

@zvonejan
I was hoping for S11… -
@zvonejan i’m afraid you’re right
-
@zvonejan It is true that real updates (with new features or improvements in GPS and altitude accuracy) are becoming increasingly rare

I’m not sure I agree. According to the support page, there have been 9 software updates since the release, and that is not little, including 3 major ones last year alone. I would expect a new update in at most a few months.
-
@isazi The last “real” update is 2.9.42. It dates from October it seems to me . For a watch that has just come out, that would do 3 updates in 1 year, nothing extraordinary …
Be careful, wanting to constantly release new models, and by stopping the development of recent models, they will end up disappointing (SSU then S9 …).
Just browse the social networks a bit. -
@Rob33 we agree to disagree then. For me 9 updates in 1.5 years is something, for you it’s not.
-
@isazi
at least 4 are minor (date change etc …).
If you find it’s normal that a watch evolves only for 1 year -1 year and a half, while the first updates are just there to correct errors of unfinished products, knowing that the price of these watches has more than doubled in a few years,
then we do not agree (I come from Garmin where my 920 has evolved for more than 3 years).Personally I am satisfied with my SSU and then my S9 but I think suunto is on the wrong track now…
-
Need gesture backlight like garmin…
-
@Rob33
New updates will come, we know this and you know it too. If these are sufficient, it is your decision.
But be careful not to fall into the frenzy of always wanting something new or worse than demanding it. Cell phones, in recent years, had accustomed us to updates that distorted functionality. Now the same updates are mostly about security. S9 is a great watch and, correct me if I’m wrong, bug-free. I repeat, new updates will come, but if you’re chasing something that twists S9 and turns it into another watch, then you’re waiting in vain. -
@Saketo-Nemo I don’t want that.
There are just improvements on which we exchanged that we could hope according to the exchanges (example: improvement of direction guidance signs on “complex” route), and which do not arrive and certain optimizations which must arrive but with a delay always shifted .
i said that i am satisfied. -

i said that i am satisfied.Suunto is definitely aware of the complex route issue problem. I believe that the waypoints that are coming will completely solve this issue.

If you believe it it means that it is a fact because you already have test it

Faith is to believe in something that most of believers will never test
-
@Mff73 we had a sneak peak of POI here… so maybe is not believing thing, is more waiting thing.

Did we? I remember a glimpse of named Waypoints and some mention of the difficulty of decoupling them (where’s Paltrow when you need her?) …
Did I miss the actual POIs and their entry/modification UI? Darn.
