Future S9 firmware wishlist summary

@the_77 Thanks, I’ll try it out today and let you know
-
@miniforklift as @The_77 says Strava splits it automatically which in my opinion is shitty since you don’t have the global information. I mean, if I record a multi-sport activity is because I want it that way, if I want separated activities I will record them separated. I like how SA deals with multi-sport, you have the overall information and then you can analyze sport by sport.

I have to mention it again… my watch is going to DND, to start screen and to body resources without my doing

If this happens send logs immediately and PM me. I’ll report to Suunto.

@brad_olwin
logs wouldn’t help, but locks
it happens frequently when I wear gloves. Until now I only noticed the worst setting change was DND, which is bad enough IMO. Since changes happen that I did neither intend nor am aware of… it’s a small thing but really annoying in daily usage -
@freeheeler Maybe a smaller watch prevents accidental button presses?
-
@freeheeler So this happens when not exercising? Because, I typically lock the buttons when exercising. I know you have asked for this but don’t know if it will happen.
-
@brad_olwin
yes, I always lock during exercising… when I don’t, I don’t…
It happens frequently in wintertime…
…but I can’t imagine to sacrifice the size of the watch for the lack of a lock @surfboomerang … there must be another solution -
Would it be too difficult to have an option to disable Optical HR by default? I have not ever found optical HR to be that reliable that it could be used. Neither I do think it is that important for base training, RPE is more suitable.
Now it is a bit frustrating that every single time I do start training I do need to toggle Optical HR off. It should not be impossible somehow to be able to set Optical HR state per sports event. This would make sense because for example strenght training it does not make any sense.
-
@stuba81
you mean like a “global” deactivation?
you can already disable it in the start screen for a specific activity. just toggle the slider and start the activity. next time you do this activity OHR will still be disabled. -
@stuba81 this has just changed with the recent FW update this week.
WHR settings are now remembered per sports mode.
You should only need to set it once now.
Check it! -
@freeheeler Hi, when this has been updated? I just reseted whit watch few weeks ago and still I do need to disable HR every single time I start running or skiing. I do have some memory footprinti that in past this was “sticky”.
Thanks for replies, much appreciated.
-
@egika Hi, I had just reseted before this update and now it seems to stick. Great stuff, thanks!
Sometimes I try to push changes a bit further. Annoyance with updates that they seems to reset all settings I have made. These are mostly disabling most of the features I do not use like optical HR and feeling. Previously I did use some custom sports modes, but after few updates and re-creating them from sratch I have not bothered. It took always some time and it was kind of annoyoing try to rememer what I did actually have on my screens. Basics are just fine most of the time so I have stick with them.
So one feature request would be to keep custom settings when they are really can not be migrated to new format. I might give custom sports mode a change again. Last time I did try was long time ago and whole sync was not that fast or solid, it was a rather frustrating to get things synced.

Custom sport modes are not changed during updates, nor are the options associated with them. The only issue is, if your update fails and the watch need a reset, you lose the custom sports mode.
BTW I am restarting the Windows machine after every SuuntoLink update and so far I have had zero resets of the 9B. Will keep checking.
-
@isazi I didn’t get a failed update, but autopause turned on after both recent updates completely on its own. So I had to disable it for every sports mode I use manually.
-
@dmytro this is normal for NON custom modes. Custom modes are untouched.
-
@isazi I can confirm this. I use custom sport modes for all my regular activities and they are all untouched.
However…
Now that I checked it, I noticed my custom snowboard profile has disappeared. It’s not in the watch nor in the app.In the past the snowboarding profile caused crashes in the watch and app after a firmware update. No idea if it is a coincident that it has disappeared after the last update

Please I am really begging for option to enable/disable touch screen in time mode link text
-
@vio112
but touch is always disabled until you press a button. only then touch is enabled, isn’t it?
