I’m in the beta group
l
-
just joined and tested Suunto App. All smooth for now, but I’ll test it move over
-
@kurko about 250 individuals added to the beta group now, more will be added next week. There is increasing number of fatal and non-fatal issues via the Crashlytics, we have to look after those now and understand how serious issues we are facing. Most likely all registrees are added to the Google play beta group by the end of next week.

Hi again.
3 months since I created this topic but same sensations.
Suunto App
- Inexistent official communications
- No public Roadmap
- No idea if we are going to have UI or not
- No idea when we will have first stable version (or witch are the ones that will be needed for this first version)
- No idea when Android and iOS version will converge
- No idea if the features that we propose and discuss are part of the roadmap (if it exist)
- Please understand me @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos @Jouko-from-Suunto you are working very hard, but we (the community) are spending our time reporting bugs, proposing ideas… and we don’t have any official feedback.
- Very low significant improvements in basic features (just new HR % in zones, some bugfixes and some Bluetooth improvements)
- No basic MC features
- No new features (proposed by community or Suunto)
- No Suunto preexisting families (Ambit, DM5,…)
Suunto App Product
When you buy an Garmin, Polar… watch, you have a unified product behind that:
- Each time a new feature is released, each part of the platform receives and update implementing it.
- Each part of the platform has consistency (same names, same icon, same colors, same values, …)
Retrospective
When we started discussing about new Suunto 3, I still has some hopes, but days are going, and releases don’t have any significant improvements.
I’m very disapointedBest regards

Hi folks,
Same thoughts, and thank you @suzzlo to have written it.
I feel lost with this new SA.
No visibility, no real changes (each new version is a hope, but finally … ).The main bug for me, is wrong metrics (or lack of metrics).
As a climb runner (not a good one ), I miss a lot ascent/descent, and now, even altitude graphs are flat.Forum is very good, but these days, we are only facing new users discovering old bugs and known issues and asking to know where the situation is.
Roadmap is the basis, and at least, an exhaustive list of known issues/bugs, maybe with solving priorities, features requests taken into account, those which are not. It will makes new versions bugs review for effective instead of searching the forum where the right post is, etc…
Same as @suzzlo , don’t take this post as a criticism (or a positive one) @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos and @Jouko-from-Suunto , but feeling now is … waiting for a new jump, something new.
I understand as well, that this forum is quite public (just a login to enter it) and sure that Suunto don’t want to write too many things publically as @Jouko-from-Suunto wrote it, why not create, based on trust, a dedicated section, for “involved” testers, at least to have more news and stayed more implicated.
Have a good day, hard work day to come, and no SA new version to disturb me and entertain me in those hard days

Why not using “reputation” rank on this forum, as a key to enter a “closer beta tester group” : i feel very proud to be silver (or not ), but what are our best wishes as beta testers ?
-
Just a comment that this is noted. I have to see if I am amble come back with more details, but at the moment it is clear to me that I can’t get a roadmap for the beta before Suunto 3 Fitness is out and Suunto app at that point too. A smaller group with ‘involved users’ has been actually mentioned just last week as one option for closed beta.
-
@mff73 this is a brilliant idea! I hope some bronze members will be picked up too

@jouko-from-suunto
I don’t speak very well english but i use every day many Suunto watch. I’m not expresive in this forum but i would be very interested to become a Suunto beta tester. I am already for other products…
-
@suzzlo I completely agree with you. I was very engaged at the beginning but I see so little progress and a lack of information that I feel Im losing my interest. I completely share all your feedback, couldnt express it better.
@Suunto guys: Im sure you are doing your best, but these are the facts :S
-
The bug issue is still there as the users are complaining about that and I have also faced the same issue. The bug issue has to be fixed and it has also affected my outlook account as well and I am having outlook 0x8004010f
-
@josephkarl what do you mean ?
-
It means that due to the bug the android device has started lagging and the device becomes slow and many apps are getting affected with that and affecting the outlook app was one of them.
-
@josephkarl you are the first with this feedback. How do you know that the suunto app causes this?
-
I have just uninstalled the sunnto app as I have the issue with that. It could be possible that many users are not having any issue but it happened with me as well.
-
@josephkarl technically its a bit strange one app to affect another. They have no relation and the android system forbids that .
-
I have rooted my device and tried many apps which is not supported on the Android which is forbidden to check that is this possible to run the various apps.
-
@josephkarl hmmm what do you mean ?

The phone might get slower due to one single app if this one is using huge amounts of CPU, but it’s impossible that other apps are directly affected in terms of they stop working or have crashes because of Suunto. Each app running on an Android phone acts as a single user in a multi-user Linux system. This means that the apps live in their own sandbox regarding security, performance, etc.
There is one pop-up when you install the SA asking you to allow the app to run in the background in order to provide a better service. If you don’t allow this (can also change it in the settings), the performance/battery of the phone will definitely not be affected although you might miss a couple of notifications.
