Suunto Vertical ruined after last update – $500 paperweight now
-
Re: Suunto Vertical: Bug Collection
I was super happy with my Suunto Vertical until the last firmware update. GPS accuracy is still fine, but:
Speed/distance on the bike is totally messed up because they removed manual wheel circumference. The auto-calibration is useless.
Lost all my data right after the update (WTF…).
And to put the cherry on top: there’s no way to roll back firmware.
So now I’m stuck with a $500 paperweight, and I’ve been forced to dust off my old Polar just to get reliable numbers. Honestly, I’d rather spend $1000 on Polar’s top watch or even an Apple Watch than keep fighting with this.
Anyone else having the same issues on the bike?

@Gabriel-Baudino just for my culture, why are you using wheel circumference for speed and distance ? I cycle a lot (road, mtb) and have absolutly no issue with speed or distance (among all sports, cycling is IMHO where our watches - of any brand - are the most accurate).

That’s strange. There are countless users here who regularly roll back their firmware if they don’t like the new update. Why shouldn’t that be possible for you? Or do you just not know how to do it?
-
@Gabriel-Baudino you can Rollback to previous firmware?
-
@Gabriel-Baudino Honestly, spend your money wherever you want, why should anybody care about that?

@soisan friendly communication here! He only asked for a Problem he has with the watch! WE should help him!

There is the way how to downgrade -
I’ve just ride a few thousand KM around mainly Norway. Software updated half way through my trip.
No issues at all with time and distance befire or after update.
Also not sure why it ever how you would put wheel circumference into the Vertical.
Are you talking about a cadence/speed sensor?
