Software update 2.39.20 (2024 Q4)

@Egika Maybe I misunderstood, but you are not aware of battery drain on your personal watch, or at all? Because there were quite a few users reporting poor battery life after the last two updates or so. I am at home ill and have to charge my S9PP every 5 days, without any activities.

Updated the S9PP and the new carousel menu is gone, so I am assuming it’s a rollback? Took quite a bit…
Thanks god.

@enriqueescoms don’t be so happy, it’s here to stay

+1 on the poor battery life. Basically with every update after stock version. (Don’t remember the number and didn’t look it up. Bought the watch 1 year ago if that help to find version number)
On stock FW I was impressed by the battery life. After the updates not so much.
The last update was the worst for sure on battery and OHR. -

@Egika
Most of the discussion on here was about the OHR/sleep issue - which my watch had with 2.39.20 - but my bigger problem was the very high battery drain during activity (6-7%/hr). Some other users also reported this, though it seemed not as many as the ohr.Do you know if Suunto are aware of this and working to fix it at the same time?
I am not having this drain on my watch but will check carefully. What are your display settings?
-
@Łukasz-Szmigiel Yep, I’m afraid so

I am not aware of faster battery use both in my personal S9PP and also from other testers internal discussion.
Most higher battery consumption after an update is as explained in Q1 here: https://forum.suunto.com/topic/9960/more-faqHigher consumption during activity has not been observed and the first thing to check would be if this persists after a soft reset.

I backdated my 9PP to 2.37.48 a few weeks ago, and turned off automatic updates.
Despite this (and checking that auto update is still OFF in the App), my watch automatically updated with 2.39.34 over night.
Given the chaos caused by the 2.39.20 update, and the fact I disliked the new Carousel menu, I had decided NOT to update my watch with ANY further updates unless I can see a compelling reason to do so.
It appears that this is not an option.Anyone from Suunto care to comment on this??
-
@tmclr that was a forced update which is basically the downgrade you made
-
Yes I appreciate that. However the s/w that the watch was on was acceptable to me, and I chose to disable updates.
As such I don’t expect the watch to be updated.
What other (unwanted) changes and bugs are going to be forced on me???
-
@tmclr thats really bad experience ️ i want choose for myself whatupdate
-
@tmclr You disabled the automatic updates from the app ? Then I need the app version please. If that is the case it should not happen
-
App version 2.40.2 (17627). Confirmed once again that the ‘enable automatic updates’ option is turned off in the watch settings in the App.
Would it be helpful to send send logs from the App?
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos This also happened to me when the SA update came out in November.
-
Since the last update 2.39.20, my watch sometimes disconnects from SA and won’t reconnect. Restarting the phone doesn’t help. A soft reset of the watch helps. It has happened to me with both Vertical and Ocean. My wife had the same problem with the 9PP. Has anyone experienced this?
I lost an important call today because of it. -

What do you mean?

Other companies have learnt it the hard way too — never make a release right before major holidays. Everyone has already forgot and disabled those Christmas watch faces, but the bitter taste of the broken OHR and control panel is there to remain for a long time.
-
@sartoric Nothing major. Just that I didn’t have my phone near me (I have the ringer off) and the watch didn’t alert me to an incoming call. That’s all

Race S (at least mine) are also impactedMy Race S has been spared so far except for problems with the Wi-Fi, but indeed my watch has now also at least stopped measuring sleep and HRV. I’m now going back to the last known good release.

Strict, but fair.
