More FAQ

Let me start some more up to date FAQ section - the existing one if from the very beginning of the forum
May we find a way to keep this clean, so it can be referenced in case someone needs it.
Or maybe the forum software supports to make this appear somewhere pinned?Lets start:
Q1: My battery is draining faster after the firmware update.
A1: The battery management system sometimes is reset after a firmware update. This can result in the displayed percentage to drop quicker in the beginning and slower at the lower charge. The process to have it calibrated again is as follows: Let the battery discharge to a state between 10-20% of charge. Then fully charge.
Also always check if the backlight is not set to constantly on for MIP devices and you can perform a soft reset to make sure any driver is in itโs default state after an update.Q2: Sleep tracking does not detect any sleep at all.
A2: Make sure both the sleep tracking is enabled in the settings and the 24/7 HR monitoring is enabled as well.Q3: My watch crashed or is not behaving as it should according to the manual. How can I help getting this fixed?
A3: Please use the Suunto App (SA) to send logs to Suunto as soon as you discover the issue. A few hours later will still work. Then write a personal message to one of the moderators or me providing the following information: date, time and time zone of the logs sent, your user account name in SA and a brief description of the issue.Q4: I like to have some more information on how certain features work or can be used.
A4: Feel free to post here in the forum, and you can also check the valuable information in the Suunto Blog: https://www.suunto.com/sports/Q5: No-one here is solving the problem I am experiencing with a piece of Suunto hardware or software.
A5: The forum is run by a team of volunteer moderators. It is not an official way to communicate with Suunto directly. The users all speak for themselves. While there are some Suunto employees and volunteer field testers reading and sometimes posting here, the forum is no official way to communicate to Suunto directly. Please use the support chat from SA or the website in case the forum users cannot help you.Q6: My watch measures a lot more vertical gain than I actually did. What to do?
A6: If your watch has a barometric sensor, then it can be fooled by a couple of reasons. As it reads the air pressure very sensitively, it can be influenced by:
clothing pressing against the sensor or jackets periodically building up air pressure inside during movement.
Water or snow or dirt in the openings of the watch housing.
High winds when the watch is worn above clothing.
You want to make sure that all the above factors can be avoided to ensure an accurate vertical gain measurement.Q7: Why is there no schedule for upcoming firmware updates with features and dates they come?
A7: With the introduction of the Suunto Spartan Ultra Suunto did that and provided a specific plan on upcoming improvements.
As development goes, you find that some prioritisation needs to be adjusted, some things just donโt work out as you plan and bug fixing ruins you time frame.
Suunto found that plan that could not be met would create more anger with customers.
That is why they changed their policy and are not disclosing planned firmware updates anymore.
From products that have been available for some years, you can see that usually there are 2-3 major feature updates every year. Plus occasional smaller ones in between. It seems like this is not about to change in the near future.Open for more
