Software update 2.39.20 (2024 Q4)

@TrailEyes I‘m on SV Titan solar, and I didn’t notice this behavior…

I did not observed this issue on my Vertical TI solar. But I did not find that super dupper new fancy watchfaces.
-
@pavel-samokha My watch updated to 2.39.20? Not .22? I‘m on SV
-
@SuperFlo75 That’s what mine updated to as well (.20 not .22)
-
@SuperFlo75 Race here but also updated to 2.39.20 & NOT .22
-
@kriskus Oh thanks for spotting that! I’m colorblind, so unless I know to look for something more subtle like that, it doesn’t register with my eyes. So I hadn’t noticed that the one aligned at the middle button wasn’t the one that I’d be selecting.
I don’t like this approach at all.
(Edit: 2 soft resets may have gotten it back to normal) -

Sorry, you’re correct it’s .20, I updated the title

My first feeling is that the menu it’s a little bit lagish, but I will see in the next future how it will work…

your whole control panel scrolling is weird. mine goes up on the screen when scrolling down, so that the selected item actually is in the middle and the whole screen is used.
I don’t have the big black area staying in place like you -
@Egika just did my second soft reset, and it appears to be back to normal. 1 reset alone didn’t work 🫥
-
Still being prompted to manually calibrate compass after update but arm/watch haven’t done much ‘moving’ since.
Maybe it needs a lot of movement to work so will keep an eye on it. -
Compass has now self calibrated & is pointing north, superb
-
Does this update fix the iOS, needing to open the app to sync and find my phone?
-
Just installed but not tested yet. Event if related to “guides” => does this update brings any improvements in build in structured workouts ? (rep counter and bip to next step ?)
-
@Mattg576 Same here. Prompted to manually calibrate compass on Suunto Race.
-
@Mattg576 ahh, cool. Did it self-calibrate after moving around a bit?
-
Impressed by the update on my 9PP: smoothness and feeling of depth in the menu carousel (by making use of smaller fonts) is great.
-
@TrailEyes I did 5 soft resets and one regular ‘Power Off’ cycle and that didn’t help. In the end I changed my interface language to English and that finally seems to have helped. Back to Polish now and it’s still OK.

Improved outdoor distance accuracy
Any chance this could be elaborated on? Distance accuracy is what keeps the Vertical on my wrist over other brands. However, I’ve always felt that Suunto watches measure just a touch longer than reality in certain scenarios (heavy tree coverage, for example). Suunto is the only brand where the activity distance is sometimes longer than the measured GNSS distance.
Anyway, excited to test this out. Guess I’ll be running with multiple watches again for a while.
-
@duffman19 the GNSS firmware has quite a number of operating modes (like driving, swimming, static, moving etc).
Plus there are the dual/single band, energy saving modes.
In all those modes the individual position points are calculated into trajectories, that the watch uses to calculate the distance.
Both positioning itself and the distance calculated plus other things like time to first fix under certain conditions have been improved.
More detail would not really be helpful.Just my 2c to over/under estimating:
Whenever I use the “follow route” function in my watch I get a distance that is slightly longer than the usual distance on the same route without this. So my conclusion is, that every GPS measurement is under-estimating - the current Suunto’s just least so
