Battery goes from 20% to 1% in 20 minutes
-
This has just happened. Battery consumption seemed ok since last charge. This afternoon I’ve got the notification of 20% battery. Then, 10/15 minutes later, got the notification of 1% battery. No activity in between was done in between of course.
I thought that might be a reading issue (software). Tried to soft reset the watch but the watch is now totally dead (battery icon).This 20% to 1% of battery also happened the previous time, before the last time I charged the watch. So, twice in a row.
As said, battery consumption seemed ok since last charge. However, a couple of times I got the touchscreen being totally blocked, only buttons were working. I did a Soft Reset watch to restore normal operation on both occasions.
Do you think this is a software issue or a battery fault.
My SV is 1 yo and is a Refurbished unit from Suunto.
Many thanks. -
@jjorgemoura
When happened before, did you charge it to 100% ?
Anyway I would contact support, just to be sure -
@sartoric Good point. Except for a couple of times, the watch never reached 100% while charging, only 99%, even when leaving the watch on charger for hours. I thought it might be a software precision thing. Annoying never the less.
Yes, after the previous time I charged it to 100% (99% to be more precise due to issue mentioned).
But now, it seems something is going wrong with the battery
-
@jjorgemoura I got same symptoms :
- high battery consumption (20% for a hike a 8 hours, with sometimes map screen displayed for a few minutes in a row),
- and screen was blocked too
=> I rebooted the watch and it comes back to normal.
So from my experience the battery drain from previous software version has been partially solved.

Many thanks.I’ve been testing my battery consumption the last weeks wearing the watch 24h and my usual usage.
In the first 2 weeks battery consumption was around 5% by day (30% battery left after 2 weeks). After that I swapped watch with the Race S and left the Vertical in the table and only usage was 1 sync with App in the morning. First 2 days 24h consumption was 1-2%. The third day battery dropped 7% in 4 hours withou use, from 27% to 20%…¿¿??
Or some process was running in backplane (without use) or battery measurement is not working fine… -
@jjpaz Yeah, or is the battery measurement that is totally wrong, and when it tells me 20% actually is only 2%, or the battery is totally broken, which is not acceptable for a flagship watch 1 year old (SN 2337).
This 20% to 1% is not good, we need to trust the battery indicator.
Wondering if a hard/factory reset might help.
I’m now charging the watch since 10am. After 7 hours charging, it was still at 97%!!!
It’s now at 99% but, annoyingly, it never reaches 100%. So bad.
To help the party, that charger is so bad that hurts. I touch the watch and it stops charging. How was possible to release a watch with such a horrible charger!I think it’s time to call support.

I’ve contacted Customer Support and will now send the watch to repair.
Let’s see how it goes.
These hardware issues are very frustrating
