Broken altitude sensor?
-
Hey.
Today after workout I cleaned Vertical with mild brush and just normal white soap. I do it every heavy-train to get rid off sweat and dirt. I have Vertical since november 2023, and today after cleaning I noticed my Altitude meter gone crazy. It changes altitude every 3-5s. by +1m more or lower. I went to garden and re-calibrate altitude, it was set to 62 (perfect, i always got 62 here), but after some seconds it started to go higher to 80+, than go a bit down, and again more. Do i damaged somehow sensor? People takes shower everyday with Vertical and other smartwatches.I’ve tried:
- soft reset
- take brush and water only to try cleaning sensor
- blow up sensor with air pressure
Sometimes altitude sits on constant level just to start going up/down every 2-5s. by 1m or something.
Sounds kinda funny to damage sensor by soap and water, but that was happened after that. For my eye, sensor is cleaned now so good and looks fine,

@Tami999 I would suspect that a water droplet is over the sensor and causing the fluctuation in pressure. If the water is trapped it can cause substantial pressure differential with movement and cause the wild reading spikes you are seeing.
I wear my Vertical in the shower and clean it with soap every day (minus the brushing) to no ill effect.
I would suggest letting it tilt and evaporate. Similar to an ear after swimming.

@Todd-Danielczyk Today everything seems fine! Thank You!

@Tami999 Best news I got all day!
Good to hear it is working well and I suspected it had to be a water droplet with your great description of what you were seeing. (thank you for that!)
