      @nickk the S5 does something similar ever since I own it. If you don’t move and hold the watch very still it blanks the screen. As soon as there is the slightest movement it immediately turns the display on again. In my experience this takes much longer than a minute before the screen goes blank though…

        @nickk haven’t heard about this. Can you send logs from the app after this happens? So we can ask someone at Suunto to look into it.

          @chrisa Nothing to do with stillness. I was moving around plenty… Angling my arm to make those pictures! And it only affected the watch face screen.

            @isazi So, reboot would wipe any relevant logs / watch state? Sure, if it happens again, will do.

              @nickk not sure but better to send logs before reboot.

                Trying also to independently reproduce. Standby “on” and raise to wake “on”.

                  @isazi Yep 👍

                  I also noticed the other day the screen didn’t go out when the watch was lying on a box during exercises for good 20-25 minutes. The backlight was still on. Kind of the opposite behavior. You know how it normally turns off the backlight and then the screen, if the watch isn’t moving during the exercise? Didn’t happen.

                  There are definitely some gremlins in the wires post update. Or maybe my S9B is having a few senile moments.

                    Suunto 9 Baro 2.16.26 - Blank screen (I have a protection glass, that’s why there is a spot on display)

                    I have sent logs from Suunto App
                    After 12s of pressing the upper button, the watch is alive again 🙂

                    1631626050726.jpg

                    Now, what it’s happening with the logs? It’s possible to get an answer why the blank screen appears, or?

                    Cheers,
                    Bogdan

                        @bogdan1921 It also happens to me with my S9B but I have detected what happens when the battery is below 50% I think it is a way to save battery.

                          @edwinhenaoz the screen goes blank when it does not detect movement for a while, but it should turn on immediately when it detects movement, or a button is pressed. If it does not it is an issue.

                            @isazi

                            When I’ve pressed the buttons, nothing happened so the only solution was to reset the watch. It’s not the first time when I have this issue, but now I’ve sent the logs and I wanted also to wrote here.

                              This has happened to me and others several times with previous firmwares, you can search for the posts, only softreset revives the screen. Is true that it hasn’t happened to me with the last firmware but I have done softresets for other reasons and this could have delayed this bug.

                                A question for a friend who has S9: does he have something wrong configured? His screen goes into standby after a few seconds but the watch face is always visible, very dim but visible even at night. What do you have to configure so that when he goes into standby he turns off completely until you move him or press a button? Thanks in advance!

                                  @flypg if the watch does not sense movement for few minutes it goes into sleep, and the screen turns off. The screen would be black and there should be nothing visible. And nothing to configure, this is how it works. When it detects movement (even a slight vibration if on table) it turns the screen on again.

                                    If the watchface is visible during the night, I suspect he has the standby option enabled.

                                      @surfboomerang @isazi Thank you! I will tell him this. Yes, their screen is visible even with the watch on the table for hours.

                                        @flypg the standby option only enables a very dim backlight while you wear the watch. If I’m not mistaken it will still put the watch screen off after a couple of minutes without movement.
