Multisport mode

@TELE-HO It is not so comfortable solution whitch I expect from sport watch in category S9 baro. But technically what about different pods for different sport? Power pod for bike, foot pod for running… I would like to see my speed during cycling, peace during running…
-
@mcindr
why do you need a pod when you have the watch? that’s a new topic, right?
I know it’s not ideal, but I understood that you miss seconds when pressing buttons, select sport modes etc.
I bet you will always loose seconds when you do not focus on the activity anymore, no matter how well it is solved. And I’m sure the time you measure will never match exactly what the organizer measures.
By coincidence I saw recently on TV that a professional cross-country skier passed the finishline, but he stopped his watch behind the finishline. He might have started it before the startingline, too. I assume he gives 100% between the lines and stopping the own recording in such a high level is secondary, or am I wrong?I am that type of guy who would even put on socks and lace shoes for running. But I can imagine that I would do things differently if I would race at all and aim for a rank within the best 10%
-
@TELE-HO Why pods? How you can measure your power only with watch without power meter? The same for cadence by cycling.
-
@mcindr
…well… I don’t as I said, I would even lace shoes
don’t get me wrong!
I can think of a setup where you can switch between swim, transition, bike, transition, run with one press… but then: do you need buttons locked?back to the pods: what’s the issue there? they both can be paired, can’t they?
-
@TELE-HO Topic “pods” was reaction to your solution use one sport mode for complet triatlon. This is reason why is it not possible. If you change sport in multisport mode or triathlon mode it changes this pods too. Cycling power meter, cycling bike pod,…
-
@mcindr said in Multisport mode:
@Egika And how you will make transition? This what you wrote means, that you will have transition time in activity.
I am doing triathlon - I know there are transitions.
And if there are - triathlon mode is the only way to go, that makes sense.I was still referring to duathlons and swinruns above.
Afaik in a swimrun, you just run and swim in the same outfit (have never done it - so correct me if I’m wrong). No transition. -
@Egika most swim runs have no transition that is correct.
-
@TELE-HO The organizer uses electronic timing, but it is only in transit zones and start-finish zones. I turned on the multisport mode on the clock, and then switched the modes:
- running
- transit (created from “Arc” mode)
- mountain bike
- transit (created from “Arc” mode)
- cross-country skis.
-
The ability to use the preset mode “winter triathlon,” “duathlon” allows the athlete not to think about lost seconds, but to run the race. In the Triathlon mode, a long press is a transit zone (you can see the general time and what is spent in transit), a short press and a change in the sport (you do not need to look for it and choose it, as in the multisport mode). It’s convenient! I had loose snow, a bicycle in my hands, I almost fell switching mode…
after the race it is impossible to evaluate a normal race, yes, I can watch in circles - pulse, etc., but in Movescount you could normally watch the race in sports. -
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos I just upgraded from my Spartan Sport to a 9 Baro and stumbled on the ability to change sports mid-activity while playing with buttons on the turbo trainer. I think it’s a really cool feature given the flexibility for multisport training days!
That said, I was really surprised to see that it’s not possible to add a custom Triathlon sport mode. I loved that about my Spartan Sport because it allowed me to set up my swim/bike/run screens exactly as I’d like, and I was able to reduce the GPS from Best to Good for the bike to conserve battery. Not being able to create a custom triathlon sport mode is a deal breaker for me. I plan to return the watch and go back to my Spartan Sport without it.
I’ve been a 20 year Suunto user from an Altimax to the first Ambit, then Spartan Sport, and now (temporarily) 9 Baro. Build quality and reliability are worlds better than other watches I’ve tried. I suspect there are a lot of triathlon users who would want different data views than those specific to the native Triathlon mode, and I don’t understand why the ability to make a custom triathlon mode has been taken away.
-
@bnorthrop
Just to check : how do you create custom triathlon mode with your Spartan Sport? -
@mff73 Back when I was using Moves Count. It was actually really great and super easy to set up specific pages for each triathlon leg. It was when I was trying to copy the custom modes and data pages from my Spartan Sport that I noticed there isn’t an option to create a custom triathlon mode on the 9 Baro.
-
@bnorthrop
Understood.
So, just also be aware when MC will be definitely transitioned, you may also not be able to create a new custom triathlon mode for your Spartan.
Future MC will only remain watch setting capabilities for Ambit series and not for Spartan (at least I understand that). -
Winter has come…
Competitions began…
and the Winter Triathlon mode cannot be created… -
up!!!
-
@drezvoff You’re persistent. I, too, really miss the triathlon mode setting.
-
@stas-varazhbit I have hope that the watch manufacturer will hear users
-
@drezvoff I support this idea.
I really want winter triathlon, duatlon, aquathlon…
A triathlon power mode.
But I’m not very optimistic.
-
@bulkan in my S9P there is a Triathlon power mode…
-
@egika It doesn’t have power in running… you can call it triathlon power but it doesn’t support power like running power… so I don’t think is a power triathlon.
