Export POIs from Suunto 9
-
Still waiting for my POIs to be able to be extracted from my watch… totally ridiculous. If you are curious, I’m selling the watch.
So far the only way of extracting the POIs I found was via Movescount, doing some annoying trickery with the Bluetooth and then having to export all my data, where the POIs were, then selecting the one or two I was interested and deleting all the other stuff, downloaded after waiting for an email to arrive from Suunto saying that the export was ready. Totally stupid waste of time.

@djibarian Suunto app supports POIs in beta.

I guess that is clear, but does the beta Suunto app support extracting POIs?
-
@André-Faria Extracting as in syncing from watch to app? Yes it does.
-
Extracting (as getting a massive list of POIs to use in some other tool or device without a lot of rewriting or tedious copy-pasting ) is possible if one uses beta on rooted Android and can extract those pois from app db ( https://forum.suunto.com/topic/5543/android-4-33-generic-comments/64 )
OP is (or at least was) on ios.

Can we have a badge “Hacker” for this guy @margusl ?
-
Can we extract the POIs from inside the watch simply with a hammer?
-
@isazi I think you said the same 2 years ago, that the functionality was in the beta.

He , as we, probably said that the feature was coming (so probably was alpha test) but now you can see your POIs in SA beta
-
@margusl Yes I am on iOS but I wouldn’t mind connect the watch to an Android device if that would do the trick. But do you need also root the device?
-
@djibarian 2 years ago the feature was created . @isazi is here about 1 year like you.
The feature is recently on beta and actually now it’s rolling out on production of the Android app
-
just to show images … as if doesn’t exists on the internet, it doesn’t exists

Ok let’s calm down. If the feature is there I will be happy to give it a try (assuming I’m wrong thinking that it was created 2 years ago, went to alpha 1 year ago, beta this year and in prod at the end of 2021). Only saying that this transition is taking too long and is not ideally done.

@djibarian
Yes -
@djibarian are you on Android ?
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I use Apple stuff daily but I have Android phones and tablets and Windows laptops too.

join us at the beta:
https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.stt.android.suunto
Then on one of your android devices pair the watch. The app will pull the pois from the watch save them to the could and show them on the map.
You can also create etc.
Then just wait for iOS (if that is your main OS) to get that feature. The iOS app when enabled will show also the POIS synced via the Android app etc.
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Thank you very much, that’s good news! Will join later.

Tried the beta and managed to sync the watch with the Android phone and see the POIs in the app. However, and correct me if I’m wrong, now the POIs are both in the watch and the app, but still no way to extract them from there. So what’s the point of this new version?

correct, and this version is the first with POI sync management between SA and watch.
Before that, only Movescount was able to do that. : now we can avoid using MC for POI.
But, if your goal is to share these POI from outside SA to other people or 3rd party app, then it is not yet implemented.
