Suunto 9 Baro - deteriorating battery life
-
Hi,
It seems that in the last time (probably after the last update), the battery of my watch (Suunto 9 Baro) drain faster.100% - 07.04. - 16:20
79% - 08.04. - 16:40
59% - 09.04. - 16:23
41% - 10.04. - 16:38
16% - 11.04. - 17:23
0% - 12.04. - 12:00
(No activity in this period)I brough this watch in November 2018, and at the beggining the battery leastead almost 7 days (without activities).
From the beggining until now I keep the same settings:Backlight Automatic
Standby - On
Brightness - 40%
24/7 tracking - On
Sleep tracking On
Notifications OnSo if any setting was changed, what is wrong?
Many thanks

@Chindris-Bogdan battery consumption increased slightly after the fall 2019 update that brought body battery and other Firstbeat features.
-
Thank you for answer!
It’s possible maybe to have a better optimization of the battery with the new firstbeat features and maybe with other features that will come?Best,
Bogdan -
@Chindris-Bogdan we’ll see what future brings us. So far I am OK with charging my watch every calendar week, exercising every day.
Of course battery life is never enough for some of us, and if the watch could last for two weeks I probably would want three
-
-
And when it should be 1 week, in reality there are only 4 days and so on…I don’t want two weeks, three or four. It’s just annoying that from seven days now I’m at four.
Cheers
-
@Chindris-Bogdan 4 days without any exercise?
-
Yes, in this period it’s impossible to make exercises…
-
@Chindris-Bogdan well 4 days without any exercise seems too little. Have you tried a soft reset already?
-
Yes, I’ve tried, but with the same result.
From my older post, to see my settings:
100% - 07.04. - 16:20

41% - 10.04. - 16:38

0% - 12.04. - 12:00
(No activity in this period)Backlight Automatic

Thanks

Try standby backlight “off”

Notifications OnVery similar to yours, except standby off and brightness at 30%.

@isazi
I think it is also very depending on how much notifications are sent to the watch and how often someone opens SA? -
@Chindris-Bogdan hi, in my case turning notifications off gave sensitive decrease of power consumption. After consultations incl. in this forum, i summarized that bluetooth connection in some scenarios and to some phones can provoke very fast discharge. Try this.
-
@Atlen are you using the stable or beta SA?

0% - 12.04. - 12:00So I charged my S9 Tuesday evening, and today (Sunday) at 14:20 I have 10% of battery remaining. But in these four days and a half I logged 7 hours of GPS, plus 2:20 without GPS. All activities with sensors (e.g. heart rate monitor, footpod).
Without activities I estimate I would have at least 35% remaining. -
@isazi only stable SA
-
@Atlen the beta is supposedly (as in, I can’t test it but this is how it should be) consuming less power because it syncs your watch only when you open the app, and not all the time (but you still get instant notifications). So next stable release should also be less power hungry.
-
I will disable the notification and start from 100% to see the difference…
-
I’ve disabled the Notification and Brightness was 30%.
Settings:
Backlight Automatic
Standby-On
Brightness: 30%
24/7 Tracking – On
Sleep tracking – On
Notification Off
The battery drain from 100% to 0% in 5 days and 4 hours (without activities).
