Export POIs from Suunto 9

Hi,
Just new to Suunto and Suunto 9 so clean started with the Suunto app (so totally ignorant about the Movescount-SuuntoApp soap opera I’m reading now).
So my question is: Is there any way of exporting the POIs from a Suunto 9 without having to use Movescount and Moveslink (because already tried to install and use them and afaik there is no way if you are already a SuuntoApp user).
Can’t believe there isn’t any way. I come from an archaic Garmin GPSmap62 where the activity and waypoints were going always together and I find this concept of having the POIs separated from the activity really confusing.
Also, being a developer I can’t also believe there is no way of extracting the POIs from the watch, even through esoteric ways like going to hidden files.
Any ideas? Any plan to improve the Suunto app in this respect? When?

Currently not available but as Dimitrios pointed out, it will come eventually.Currently, if you need to have a POI you could just record a veeery short route with SApp and if you need to navigate to that POi, you just select that “fake” route you just created. This could work as a stopgap measure.

@jsuarez For sure, but that’s not what I want.
Suppose you go hiking and climb five peaks, so for the same activity you create five POIs for each summit and another five for some crossroads, mountain huts or whatever. What you would want then is to be able to export the track AND those ten POIs as waypoints.
Because the POIs store the date created and the watch knows the initial and final dates for the activity, is pretty straightforward to deduct that those POIs correspond to the activity. Or at least the watch, or the Suunto App, should show a list of those POIs so you could create an association between them. Or at least could let you export the POIs so you could go to the GPX, edit it as an XML file and manually merge the waypoints, already exported as GPX. Or whatever!
But currently, as far as I know, there is no way of extracting that data from the watch, apart from navigating to Navigation > POIs > Select the POI and manually write out all the details, which for one POI could be feasible, but not for ten.
The frustrating thing is that you should be able to do it in Movescount but there is no way of using Movescount if you start using SuuntoApp, which is not the ideal upgrade path. Any missing feature in SuuntoApp should be available in Movescount, even if that required additional, not ideal steps.
Does that make sense?

Currently, not, it is coming.
Or you can use Movescount App to sync with. MC Web, and it is done.
Search forum for parallel use of SA and MC, it is working. -
@Mff73 No, it doesn’t work. You cannot use both apps in parallel, at least I wasn’t able to do it. After having everything setup in SuuntoApp, I had to install Moveslink, unpair the watch with SuuntoApp, pair it with Moveslink, but still nothing appeared in Movescount. No watch at all in Movescount web after syncing. Completely stuck.
I will try again now anyway.

@Mff73 Yes, as stated here: https://www.suunto.com/en-us/Support/faq-articles/suunto-app/what-are-the-limitations-in-using-suunto-app-and-movescount-together2/, if you start using SuuntoApp, there is no way back, at least for a Suunto 9.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I have both Suunto 9 Baro and Garmin fenix 5 Plus on my table right now and I have to return one of them. Garmin has more features but Suunto is way nicer. It would be a pity to return the latter because it’s not useful enough (for my needs, of course).

Yup, I understand the use case. Sadly that doesn’t seem to work currently. Of course the way you describe the use case is how the SApp+watch combo should work… -
@djibarian why don’t you use Movescount only for the moment, switch to SA as late as possible when more features are there?

I use both app since years, and others as well.
It works, it is sure.
But not Moveslink, not suuntolink : use Movescount App (iOS or Android). -

@jean-william-cousin That’s an option, but I couldn’t manage to link the watch. Everywhere in the docs says that Suunto 9 hast to use SuuntoApp. It doesn’t seem to be recognised with the iOS app or Moveslink. The watch connects via Bluetooth but doesn’t sync afterwards.

Is not Moveslink is Suuntolink. And as @Mff73 says you can use both, in fact I do, but you do everything in the web and then you use Movescount mobile to sync, at least in Android. Maybr @Brad_Olwin can help with iOS, but I think is pretty similar.
Only S3 and S5 are SA exclusive, not S9.

May i summarize ?
You need to export POI out of watch S9, assuming you have created them during an activity.
Not possible yet with SuuntoApp, but it arrives (when, we don’t know). --> Now we are talking about a workaround to let you do it until it arrives.If you use SA (for customize sports modes or sync route) your Suuntolink doesn’t work anymore.
But you can install Movescount app on your phone, connect to your Movescount account, pair your watch, and this MC app with play the role of Suuntolink --> it will sync your watch to Movescount web acount, including your POIs. -

You can use both the Suunto App and MC app but only one can be running at one time. Make sure to force quit in iOS the app that you are not using. For quit SA. Download MC app from the App Store. Log in with with your MC credentials and the app will recognize the watch and sync, providing your POIs.
There is one issue when using both apps, the custom sport modes set up in SA will be overwritten by the MC sync. This is only a short term solution as I think that POIs will be coming to SA soon. I would use this only if you absolutely need it. -
After several months, still not able to export the POIs. None of the workarounds really work. This is surreal.

Are you saying you didn’t managed to download POIs even in MC ?Waypoints are now in beta, POIs should comes in the next updates

I’m saying that couldn’t even connect to MC. When tried, MC says there are no watches. I connect Suuntolink and nothing happens. Then I found a support document that says that activities synced to SuuntoApp cannot be synced to MC. If I connect the watch via USB to the computer and open SuuntoLink, nothing happens. So…?

Yes, you can’t use suuntolink.
You should had been able to use MC APP (NOT suuntolink) to do it, as @Brad_Olwin suggested (he owns an S9 and he used both APP in parallel since a while)
Unfortunately now MC APP is no more available for download due to service transition, sonic you don’t have it, you just have to wait.
