S9 Baro takes very long to find GPS signal before a move
-
I have this problem too for a few weeks.
Looked at the GPS date, it was old, did soft reset, GPS date ok now,
still having problems. Finding GPS takes minutes.
Nothing chaged on the watch. Using suuntolink with 9,
no intentions using SA -
Uaau, I thought I was the only one. I did soft reset, hard reset. AGPS date is ok. I have this problem for 2 weeks. Disconnect from moveslink, connected to SA and problem is still there. 3-5 minutes is needed or even more to find satellites. Recently I lost reception on the road for 3 minutes, breadcrumbs just disspapeared. I never had this problem with Spartan. And yes, I have this problem for about 2-3 weeks
-
@zvonejan Sounds similar to my issue, once more.
BTW - using the GPS-GLONASS combination even in a mostly rather heavily built up area (Brussels, downtown) has been really disappointing - really not so good track.
-
Hey new FW is out. Lets test that! (in terms of time etc)
-
Looking forward to the update … this friday
… until then reading the comments rather enviously. -
@Shrek3k
FW zip files for manual upgrade are available in the 2.8.24 -

FW zip files for manual upgrade are available in the 2.8.24Thanks … but I have no access to PC/notebook during the week (of course in the office, but …), as I do not need it / have no time to use it … the smartphone with DEX is more than good enough for me… usually … of course not this week

Hi all,
still having problems with the GPS after update to the latest firmware.
baro 9 en MA.
This was never an issue, but the last months I’m struggling… -
@stokje Check the AGPS file, if it is current then I am not clear why this is happening and it could be a hardware issue. Mine has found GPS very quickly, within seconds unless the AGPS file is missing, which can happen.
-
@Brad_Olwin
The AGPS file is old, a few days ago…
When I soft reset, the file will update to a resent date, but
then again the watch refuses to update this file.
and so on… -

I had a similar problem today. At the beginning of run watch was on performance mode and no issues it found gps in seconds but when I climbed a uphill which was not covered by any trees or any building etc. It lost the gps and I had to wait for 10 20 minutes to find it back. I can’t understand how it happens. I had to stop the activity, start a new one etc. It was frustrating. Second time it found the GPS there was no issue until end of the run.
BTW any recommendation when to use GLONASS or GALILEO?

I use suuntolink with movescount, I’m a long time Suunto user, this never was an issue before…
No intention to use SA until forced:) -
This issue keeps plaguing my Suunto 9. From time to time it just stops updating AGPS, and the time it takes to find satellites starts to increasingly get worse. Then at some point I reboot the watch by pressing the upper button for 12 second and re-sync, and it gets the new AGPS, and everything is fine for a week or so. Then everything repeats again. That isn’t what I’d call a good experience.
Is Suunto doing anything about this?

I am experiencing this as well. For me at least, seems to be only recently (past 2 weeks or so). Prior to that I would get GPS consistently within 5 seconds, even while I was indoors.
-
I am not experiencing this and I am typically syncing an S9 baro with MC app. I will check on this and keep updating all of you.
-
@stokje Try MC app and see what happens
-
@silentvoyager No afaik Suunto is not doing something about this so far.
So just to understand you sync with the Suunto app and then you have no AGPS and after waiting for a few for the watch to process them? (Up to 10 minutes?)
Or AGPS is not updated (old date) .
One small thing here. MC app is not the focus here so lets please leave that aside.
-
I use Suunto app to sync my S9. The syncing process sometimes takes up to 3 Minutes!? But it works fine. Starting an activity the GPS fix is done after 3 to 5 seconds. SA is the latest beta, firmware of S9 is also the latest.

AGPS date isn’t updated. When initial sattelite acquisition becomes slow I check AGPS date and find it to be two weeks old. That is despite syncing almost daily. I sync only with MC app. I am not ready to switch to SA.
When you say MC app is not the focus here, does it mean that the issue isn’t relevant to MC app? Or does it mean that the issue won’t be addressed in MC?
