@2b2bff but it does quite a few things that the flagships don’t. I cannot imagine that is cost effective for Suunto and it is just plain confusing.

I would really like to see Suunto scrap the old OS and continue with just the Run platform instead as I believe that experience is a lesser user experience. Actually returned my V2 because the overall feeling of using it was so far behind the Run.

      Edit: apologies for going OT.

@brechtvb lol you get that it can be done in paralel? Not all watches has that problem.

@2b2bff yeah, but you never know, that might change, also FW replacement on Race series should happen at some point I do not see how it makes sense to develop 2 separate FW

it may be related to hw compatibility…
maybe race 3/3s will unify that firmware with run2…just a wild guess.
        Very curious to see

@André-Faria that would make perfect sense, but I do not see enough improvement in Run FW yet, so it could replace Race series. But maybe smth is cooking, would be nice.

@aiv4r again these are only my wild guesses…
Maybe Run was a experiment with compatible hardware but cheap enough to sell cheap and so not much investment in firmware or even hardware that is not 100% compatible with race features (due to price gap).

Maybe I am exagerating, but on Suunto story there was always a bit of “let’s make the best of this platform” and when they get to a limit (my guess!) they change…and yeah sometimes features are not "ported"or support becomes more focused on bug fixing than new features
Ambit to Spartan => if I recall correctly it missed some swim features
Spartan to 9 => great evolution feature wise and support wise
            9 to 9 peak/race/vertical/race s , race 2,vertical 2?

On all these switches, the watches that were launched later had the impression of being “less supported”, but the reality was that earlier watches on the same platform had meaninful updates (ex: 9 peak vs 9 baro).

Depending what happens soon the story may repeat. Let’s see
Honestly with garmin it is not much different, except that their watches have more features we kinda notice less.

@André-Faria it has nothing to do with hardware compatibility, HR is read well, then connection drops, no more HR.

              They are pure software issues.

@aiv4r but they do control me not getting what we paid for.

To add: they clearly admitted to users here: “not going to fix that”.

@OutdoorMan this is what Suunto said in their Instagram post today. Talking about “new products”

To get back to the topic again, what about the new products they talk at the UTMB, is there new Race 3/3s in sight now…? Or some other product news?

@johann.fuehrer not sure if anybody were there in this forum. Bus as far as we know Run 2 for sure is coming. Race 3 and Race 3S also seems to be coming at some point. Everybody were hoping for at least one of them over the UTMB weekend, but we got nothing. 🙂

French reviewer Jerome from blog cardio gps has published a video during utmb in which he talks about the brands he has met and their future products.
About Suunto he mentions a run 2 and a srs3

While most people are eagerly awaiting the new watches, I’m actually quite intrigued by the new HR… 🤔

Suunto Run 2 was visible on Suunto’s website today. At least these changes vs. Run 1:

                          Better display
                          New HR sensor
                          Maps
                          Thicker
                          Larger battery

Really makes me wonder why they would keep the Race S in the line-up with maps on the Run.
