Hi Suunto Team and Community,
I’d like to suggest a feature that would be extremely useful for night navigation, camping, tactical activities, and astronomy: a dedicated Red Light / Night Vision display mode for watch faces.
The Problem
Current watch face layouts and bright white/color backlights are often too bright in complete darkness. They ruin night vision adaptation and make the watch visible from a distance (which is an issue when trying to maintain light discipline or stay low-profile).Proposed Feature
An option in the display/watch face settings (or quick toggles) to switch the display color palette to dimmed, low-intensity red tones.Key Benefits:
Preserves Night Vision: Red light doesn’t break dark adaptation, making it much easier to check time/stats while reading maps or navigating at night.Low Visibility / Stealth: Reduces light spill, preventing the watch from glowing like a beacon from a distance.
Better Comfort in Darkness: Much easier on the eyes when checking the watch in a tent or pitch-black environment.This would be an incredible addition to models like the Suunto Vertical, Race, and other AMOLED/MIP models.
Would anyone else find this useful? Hopefully, the dev team can consider this for a future firmware update!
