Suunto HR Chest Strap stopped work.
-
Hello.
Im using 1~ year Suunto Chest Strap and Suunto Race 2 now.Does someone with Race2 got problem with chest strap? My stopped work. I thought its battery -> I replaced. It didn’t help.
I thought maybe its strap, since I’ve read aftter a year it could be broken so I ordered new one (without sensor, only M size) becouse i thought it may be electrodes becouse it happened after washing in washing machine (30’C like suunto suggest. Ofc. I took sensor off
)
I’ve connected a brand new one yesterday easily and it worked again! I was so happy.Today I’ve wanted to run and when started exercise it didnt recognize strap, I mean before start running exercise, it just didn’t pop up info that it switched to Chest strap and Icon was “heart” (the one when watch uses Race 2 OHR). (My chest strap electodes were wet, I always use water to wet electodes to make strap ready, also battery was brand new)
I unpaired Chest Strap + did Soft Reset of Watch. Than started problem with connecting it again. Race2 couldn’t find my strap. After maybe 2 more soft resets, and trying to sync with my strap few times, it finally found it.
Than again. I try start running, and below on picture You can see what happens. It finds my strap right away, but than I got heart icon instead of Heart icon + strap. I thought maybe its just graphical bug or something, but than I noticed ZoneSense doesnt work which was proof that my watch uses his OHR not strap.
I dont know now if sensor is broken or just software of Race2… does can someone can confirm if got same problem?
What I did?
- Changed battery to new one
- Soft reset of watch
- Bought brand new original Suunto Chest Strap (without sensor)
- Wet electrodes, even whole strap.
- Cleaned sensor “pins?”

Right now I just started exercise, my chest strap is laying in drawer and I got something like this! Strap connected icon, and it shows and sits on 45 HR all the time!
Strap is not on my body and even its not wet.
Oh and one more thing I’ve noticed. When I successfully connected new strap with brand new battery It showed 100% battery. Right now it shows 40% (after few hours)Right now I gonna unpair Chest Strap to be able use wrist OHR.

Bonjour,
j’ai ma Suunto race S depuis environ 1 an.

Hello Tami999,had the same problem some days ago. Solved it in the following description (Sorry for the german screens). After choosing the chest-strab in the menu of the watch, it worked.

I got Chest Strap selected here already.

@Tami999 I have the same issue since the update when this new Bluetooth device management has been introduced. I had two straps connected and the watch had issues to connect to the right one. Only solution was to remove one and use just one at a time and whenever I start an exercise and the watch doesn’t show that the strap is connected (even though it is) I discard the exercise (go out of the Start page to “home page”) and start the exercise again - then the watch finally displays that the strap is connected. Sometimes I have to repeat the process multiple times to connect to the HR strap. It is frustrating and obviously a bug for a longer time now.

@OutdoorMan Thank You. I got only one strap, and it worked since I bought Race2 when it’s aired. Never had a problem until this week. Also havent seen any update last time so I wasn’t sure I somehow triggered bug myself or sensor is broken. Good to know.
