Battery drain after update 2.44.46 (2025 Q3) on Vertical Watch

@sky-runner Start a dedicated thread with this. Clearly there are issues although with my sensors I have not had this problem. I think a dedicated thread will help with fixes.

My suunto vertical went through another 10% battery in last 24 hours with no activity recorded from 65-55% will try hard reset today
-
@gone-troppo
just let it discharge fully (battery icon) then recharge.
maybe it just need to calibrate -

maybe it just need to calibrateAlready tried that didn’t work. Have tried every single thing I have seen recommended on this forum and on the fb groups nothing has worked so I just did hard reset as last resort what a pain.

Hello,
I have noticed as well a significant reduction in the battery life of my Suunto Vertical between April and today. This happened without any changes to my watch settings (notifications off, daily HR on).
While previously the battery could last much longer: fully charged the 16/4 was 70% the 23/4 (8 days).
Now full charged the 04/09 today is already 74% (4 days). -
@gone-troppo
just remember that after the hard reset a calibration is basically neededI’m at 51% after 10 days, and I have increased training time (GPS) in the last weeks, so it looks pretty ok to me.
I usually charge it after 20/21 days when it gets to 15/20 % -
To summarize: 50 % has problem, 50 % don’t.

So, it is not a bug. It is a half-bug.

Half-bug, half-feature.

Battery drain here too. Charged Sunday 20.00 from completely dead to 99 % with running of 20 minutes. Monday 12.00 already down at 92 %. 8 % loss after 16 hours!!! I have just 24/7 OHR on. Nothing else, no notifications etc.

@Stefan-Kersting
Do you use external sensors? -
@Stefan-Kersting same same!
-
@jjpaz hr belt but that have I used before too
-
Now I lost 2 % in 4,5 hours
-

Yeh mate mine is exactly the same even after a hard reset hasn’t fixed it have tried everything. Must say I have loved my vertical and suunto to this point one of the main reasons is they don’t have all the nonsense and clutter like Garmin. All I expect is excellent gps accuracy and excellent battery life. And whilst the vertical still has excellent gps accuracy It no longer has excellent battery life.

I have the feeling this is all becoming a flip-coin, 50% it fixes things, 50% it doesn’t. And as a bonus you get a new bug.

Yes, that’s the key. I have reported the issue and my verifications in the Spanish Support Telegram Group (awesome group).The issue is that after activities the watch remains looking for the BT devices and that process is draining battery in the backplane.
How can you test it? With the watch in repose mode (in watchface mode) power on your your previously sinced BT device. In my case, I power on my Coospo HR armband and the Vertical watch vibrates, the same way it vibrates when syncs with the device in the preactivity screen
Workarounds:
- Unsync BT devices (maybe after activities, and sync again before new activity)
- Soft reset after activities. In this case tha watch forgets the sensor and the “scan” process doesn`t starts until you sync the sensor again in the preactivity menu.
Hope this helps until the hotfix is ready.
