Software Update 2.40.38 (2025 Q1)
-
I have somewhat of an irony of a bug to report, that the Loop Pace S+ app doesn’t work with the track running sports mode. I’ll try it again but it refuses to work, even when toggled off and on again.
Oh and the mode doesn’t give an estimated VO2 max either.
-
@babychai yup, seems like a bug. I’ve just noticed in one of my sports modes that it defaults to custom, even despite it being identical to performance.
-
Today I had my vertical in battery saving and at a random occurrence it rebooted itself … after reboot it was set in non battery saving state.

Well. It is happening again.
About 2,5 hours are missing. I woke up at 3:55 and pressed a button to check the time. Watch shows the correct duration, app doesn’t.
HRV is also wrong: app shows 29, watch shows 32 as last night’s HRV.

@pavel.samokha Hello, is this an update error? That it is impossible to set the battery mode to Performance, but there is a User mode, and changing the pressure does not affect the pressure change arrow and the same error is present
-
@timecode
Uh…thanks to your message I know that the same behavior is happening here as well…sleep time is right in the watch and wrong in the app…going to check it again tomorrow just in case the system needs a day to be aligned between devices. -
@misu763 there is a workaround to turn on “do not disturb” or turn off “bluetooth” on the phone before going to bed and vice versa when waking up, but this is so annoying to be honest. The strange thing is that it happens once in a week or so. I don’t understand this.

Update went smooth. No issues on Race. Sleep tracking and HRV has worked flawlessly.

@Artus-Diver You’re right that the update did not resolve a problem. But to be fair the results have improved a bit. The pool’s lengths are now counted better. I’ve been following this problem for two years now, and I admit it’s getting better but still, if you do a strange move in the water the watch could be wrong in counting. Also keep in mind that this particular update was not intended to improve style recognition. Maybe it’ll come with the next updates, I hope so…
Yes, for me, the pool length counting improved only after sending the watch to the service in Prague.
I think that Suunto Service performed a hardware reset and after that it is better (…) I previously performed two factory resets and nothing.
The speed of the service deserves praise (4 days).
The swimming style recognition algorithm has also been changed. My friends have the same feeling.
I swim repetitively and on the previous algorithm it recognized styles more easily. The current one is very wrong.
In my opinion, the best solution would be to implement the “swimming style learning” algorithm from Suunto Ambit 3 PEAK and everyone would be happy.

Another night past and today opening the app/widget triggered the storing of the sleep tracking again. I guess I’ll just continue opening the app/widget after waking up in the morning for the time being…
Sidenote: HR tracking during the night always works.After few days of opening the sleep app manually in the morning, sleep tracking is back to normal for me on the Race S.

Did I missed it in previous updates ?? For me altitude profile during an exercice starts now from the start of exercice and then displays the last hour of profile. If I’m not wrong : the altitude profile used to display the last hour even at the beginning of exercice. That was pretty annoying for exemple if there was a lot of altitude difference before the starting point. That’s a good point !

@timecode
Same here with S9PP -
I updated my Suunto Race two days ago. And it has not tracked sleep for two nights in a row.
Disappointing. I suppose today I will soft-reset it and test again tonight.

Pool swim metrics are still quite unreliable in this update unfortunately.
I’ve done 6 swims since installing the update. They all get my stroke correct (breast), but the distance - and thus pace etc - is pretty hit and miss. I had one 1400m swim where the watch was dead on, I’ve had a few where it has missed the first 10 or so lengths, then picked up and got the rest more or less correct. This is annoying, but I can kinda live with that. But then today I did 1200m and the watch only recorded 240m (see attached screenshot). Also attached is one 1200m session where it missed the first 10 lengths or so.
The last reliable firmware for pool swimming (before the new algorithm) was 2.39.20. So might have to revert back to that.
It would be really appreciated if you could fix the swim tracking

@seanvk I had the same. I went back to the previous version and then re-installed the new version. After that it has worked. Seems that there can happen errors during the installing process.
-
@TuomasK what’s always weird is that it seems to work for some users and for others it won’t. I got a free month of Whoop and since I could use my son’s whoop (he cancelled his subscription) I thought I could let it run „against“ the Race during the easter holidays and for me sleep on the Suunto Race works pretty well with the the new Firmware

@ChrisA For me now it is on pair with Oura and damn accurate to how I sleep and wake up. The only inconsistency I have is in the app sometimes. I.e: sleep in the training zone says I slept 5:12h and the sleep widget 6:04
