baro trend shows 2 X 3 hours timeframes and there should be a threshold I don’t remember at the moment.

No change since the update. Always the ➡️ arrow despite the steady increase from 1014 to 1024 hPa within 12 hours. There should be a arrow showing ↗️

@Devis What is the problem with the 50m red circles

I believe the confusion comes from an issue I layed out in the posting https://forum.suunto.com/post/164067 (Several swim issues and questions). Whether being, as @Artus-Diver calls it, a ‘recreational’ swimmer or doing more of a ‘training’ session we users expect that pressing the supposed ‘Lap’ button will mark the distance since a previous button press AND give the exact timing between the presses.

But, as I showed in the linked posting, the ‘Lap’ button does (probably) not effect the timing at all and is just a means of summarising the automatic “Interval” counting the watch does by itself. It is thus very likely that a ‘recreational’ swimmer (pushing the ‘Lap’ button for every length *) will experience 0 metres lengths or, as in this case, 50 metres while expecting 25 because the the automatic counting easily is disturbed by slowing down or faffing with the watch or less than stellar push-offs. Remember, a ‘Lap’ button press is in no way decoupled from the automatic “Interval” counting.

            • Many ‘recreational’ swimmers count lengths instead of metres and therefore rely on the ‘Lap’ button doing the logical thing, i.e. in a 25m pool mark 1 length and that being 25 metres. The concept of automatic “Interval” counting (of varying lengths) is for them profoundly alien.

Now the air pressure is falling, the value in the complication is correct, the little arrow above is still ➡️.

I tried different watchfaces, no difference. Both watches, Vertical and 9PP have been resetted to factory settings after the update. 😕

                Good morning,
I hope I haven’t offended anyone with the term “recreational swimming”, if so that was not my intention, I apologize.
Of course I practice sports swimming but I often use other swimming techniques and the LAP button to mark laps, e.g. for exercises without hands.

                By the way.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos even when LAP works it still doesn’t give the length and it was already implemented in the Suunto AMBIT 3 PEAK model!!!

I don’t understand what the problem is to restore such functionality?

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I’ve been using your products since 2001 (I swim, dive) and I don’t remember such a mess with the swimming algorithm!

                (SA3PEAK, S9B, SV until update 2.39.20 later it’s despair).

Yesterday I sent the SV to the service because maybe it’s a watch defect? I’m curious about the service opinion.

                Back to the topic.
I proposed dividing it into two disciplines only because the current algorithm does not satisfy either competitive or recreational swimmers.

Thank you for your help and support.

By the way, I have one more observation.

When performing very fast “sprints” of 100m butterfly stroke less than 8 strokes, the lap (25m) is not counted.

This occurs when swimming underwater for a long time (30% or more of the length of the 25m pool), which consequently shortens the number of strokes above the water.

@Artus-Diver How to separate different users of the water medium is indeed hard. In Swedish we only have “Competition”-swimmers (Tävlingssimmare) and then the rest goes under the general term ‘bathers’ (badare). There is no ‘recreational’ swimmer, which would then be ‘fritidssimmare’… Swimming outside of work, school… In your “fritid”, free time 🙂

Regarding the ‘Lap’ button: For now it should be widely spread that it only marks the ENDING of the last totalled automatic lap counting. And because of this you get things like 75 metres (when manually lapping a 100) since the last 25 has not been registered by the automatics and added to the sum yet.

Edit: Our lanes seperated from the general ‘bathing’ area at the pool are labeled to be used for “Motionssimning”, that would be ‘Exercise swimming’ or ‘Work out swimming’ in english.

There is no need to press a ‘Lap’ button in casual use, but real life gives ample situations where we do. One is the recreational swimmer as cited above, a second is to have more precise control over registered times/laps and a third, since Suunto doesn’t have a drill mode, to mark portions where we use no arms or perhaps only a single arm.

To accomplish expected behaviour Suunto need to give the ‘Lap’ button priority also in the watches Swimming mode so that a press gives a timestamp (by itself, decoupled from automatics) plus distance and in effect ends any automatics going on. Or something in that ballpark… I’m no algorithm writer! (Though I appreciate how hard it must be to satisfy all user cases).

The widget (barometer) is also broken since the update. Despite falling air pressure it shows the ➡️ arrow, the same behaviour as the complication in the watch face (on my 9PP and Vertical).

Please fix it, it’s an outdoor watch and it should work as expected.

@pilleus Seems correct if the Ambit 3 algorithm is still used.

2hPa in six hours is not triggering any “change” in baro trend … not even in 3 hours afair

For me the change from 1014 to 1024 hPa is a trend and was shown before the update as ↗️.

We will see, if the ➡️ will change in the next few days.

Since I always pressed the down button to mark each length (25m), I circled some “50m” because the watch had already counted 25m for the previous lap and another 25m for the next lap. So, I think the watch overestimated the distance by +25m in these laps.
… probably I have not understand how the down button acts/syncronize with the watch distance algoritm.
                                            Thanks for any your help.
