Software update 2.39.20 (2024 Q4)
-
Hi all S9PP’s people. Thank you for the logs and we have found the issue.
I ll keep you posted.
-
@Mff73 thanks a lot! A followed the instracyion the same day you reply and it perfectly works now!
I will update again when the ohr issue will be fix.
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Thanks for giving us some information. I’ll be waiting for the problems to be solved.
The last straw was that I’ve already had two HR sensor crashes today, so I’ve rolled back, as other users, to the previous version for now.
(The Christmas tree is now mint instead of green, a small loss compared to the pleasure of going back to the UI without carousel animation.)
-
So my control panels broke yesterday. Looks like it happened after activity.

I’ve reverted to 2.37.48.
Confirmed my thoughts about the new UI - I prefer the old version. The new setup didn’t scroll smoothly and also shrunk the text of non-selected options for no good reason, making them harder to see.
I’d also rather have functioning OHR/sleep tracking than a Christmas tree watch face.
I do wonder how Suunto can release a update such as this with fundamental faults that disable a primary function of the watch… Is there no Beta testing?
Also no updates on here on likely timing for a fix.I also returned to 2.37.48…but we can still use a Christmas tree watchface. The only problem is that the old firmware doesn’t have green color of watchface. But mint green is ok)

Dear development Team,
it´s not the first time this happens but this latest update 2.39.20 did more harm then good. Now my heart frequecy sensor, which for me is the MOST important feature in a fitness watch, is not working. It is stuck and on display i see only “Measuring…”, if I reboot the watch it works for some time then again gets stuck. I must say I was a really big fan of Suunto and especially of its philosophy of beeing a small focused company caring for the environment and delivering high quality products with premium materials and fewer but high performing software features. Since now software issues happened one too many time I think I will move to another watch because I am not ready to loose so much training data cosnidering I payed almost 400€ for my Suunto 9 Peak Pro.
I hope you will improve in the future so that I can switch back to your watches because I think from the hardware point of view they have no riivals.Nevertheless Happy Christmas Holidays

What will your pick be? Who’s software is better and bug free?

Nah, I’m cool. I just learned that I’m a hamster, hence the 255 hr.
-
@Łukasz-Szmigiel You made my day
-
@Nicola-Fontana unique case/situation. I don’t think this is a majority feeling.
-
@sebchastang i have the same issue. Anybody know how to install previous OTA-packages on the vertical?

great job! glad to hear this good news
-
a fix for the HR issue is currently under testing
-
@Egika Do you know if a fix for bad “control panel” display when activated by bottom button shortcut is also under testing?
Even if it is probably less important than the HR issue, I think it deserves consideration from Suunto since it has been broken with latest firmware.
Thanks. -
@sebchastang sorry, I don’t know. Can also not reproduce this myself.
-
@Egika no problem.
Steps to reproduce:- set control panel as bottom button shortcut
- restart watch
- access control panel by long pressing bottom button > result is a bad display of control panel as described in @TrailEyes video
https://forum.suunto.com/post/158535
Sometimes Control panel displays well, sometimes does not.
I also contacted support to tell them about the control panel issue. I don’t know if this is going to be forwarded to dev team.
Anyway, I am happy for S9PP users who will soon have a fix thanks to Suunto responsiveness

I now could reproduce it on my S9PP. Seems to be a MIP device only issue.
Not sure if too much will happen regarding this one over the Christmas holidays though… -
@Egika Good to know you can reproduce!
I would be satisfied just by knowing Suunto will include a fix for this issue in the next update (Q1 2025).
Thanks again for your help
