Suunto ZoneSense

@stromdiddily yes, moving it from SP to main would be amazing, as would being able to set its target zone. It’s a lot like what Stryd does with environmental power, but for more than running.

First run today with the new ZoneSense…
Can anybody explain whats going on here!Aerobic Zone Green with heart rate 180!!!
Later the graph from ZoneSense is Red with 180 bpm… And finally we have Red graph With 170 bpm… Suunto Smart Sensor! And the anaerobic Treshhold is 190???
Never ever. My lactat Treshhold in lab test in running was 175! Like its set in the watch! Please whats going on here 🫣

@Swaddy61 Hi, it is useful for you the same way it Is useful for anyone else. 3 zones and 5 zones models are just a different ways how to say the same thing. The thresholds apply in the same way.
Z1+Z2 in 5 zones model is the aerobic zone in the ZoneSense.
Aerobic Threshold
Z3+Z4 is the anaerobic zone in ZoneSense (even if the naming is not totally right, it is still very much aerobic:)).
“Anaerobic threshold”
And the rest is the same.
For you it can help you to recognize where the thresholds are. And you can be sure you are working the proper part of your physiology. 3 zones model is more similar to the way how the body really works. 5 zone model is more artificial - it’s for people to have more control of the training. But the body doesn’t care that much:) You can use both according to your actual needs. -

I had more or less the same feedback after my first run yesterday: Green zone with heart rate clearly in yellow zone (165).
BTW, I tried it with my COOSPO HR Belt and it works
-
Is there a neat way to update zones in the watch according just to calculated aerobic threshold? Or I’d have to push hard enough to have anaerobic calculated too (to hell with max, I don’t care about that).
-
@Łukasz-Szmigiel if you go for an accurate result you need to push unfortunately. There are ways how to calculate zones (probably not directly in the watch/app) but without the numbers it’s always an estimate which can be widely wrong:) I think that something like 20 minutes test could be enough to have a quite good estimation.
-
I also tested yesterday for the first time in the hills and it’s very strict. I had to push a lot, but that’s about it.
I would have liked a lot to have ZoneSense as the first dial at the start of the activity + to be able to see the length and time of the activity. That’s all I need. But that’s really a minor thing. -

I’ve just found out that it is possible to modify the data fields showed during the activity by modifying them through the ZoneSense app page on S+: acutally, there is a option reporting both distance and duration.

@Matúš oooh, I see… thank you!

The new thing about ZoneSense is, that it is not just another representation of HR. HR and Zone are not a linear dependence, otherwise this would not be a big innovation.
Please differentiate between zone and HR.
Maybe read here: https://www.suunto.com/de-de/sports/News-Articles-container-page/introducing-zonesense-revolutionizing-intensity-insights-with-heart-stress-measurement/Example from that page:

@Egika I don’t understand why I m not seing zonesense in my app ! I added it ok the watch , I could see the details but there is nothing on the app. Where do you see that ? (iOS btw)
-
@thanasis have you updated your app? It is in the activity details.

Later the graph from ZoneSense is Red with 180 bpm… And finally we have Red graph With 170 bpm… Suunto Smart Sensor! Please check the video:
https://youtu.be/bD3O4BZ9vIc?si=FfvmBw9HMXuT19HK&t=2551There is muscle stress that is independent of the heart stress. ZoneSense does no only map your HR zones in a different way. It is an independent real time measurement.
And it needs some time to reach homeostasis. Short activity tests with longer resting will not properly reflect in ZoneSense. This is also in the video.

Well it indeed needed an update and it doesn’t show that there is a newer version ,. Thanks !!!

I’m curious to know if disabling sleep tracking and HR 24/7 on the watch still allows the ZoneSense algorithm to function properly.

I do not use sleep tracking nor HR 24/7 and yesterday I got ZoneSense suggestions after 45’ running.

I don’t have the “measured” values and HR values do not correspond to HR zone i can see in information field.
With ZoneSens i am in “arrobie” zone but according to HR zones i should be in zones 3/4/5.
I don’t understand ?
Can someone explain ?
Thanks -

@taziden well this would not be fair to people not using a chest strap (or equivalent device that measures the time between beats)
