Suunto ZoneSense

I will add videos here, so they are easier to find:

EP4: https://youtu.be/bD3O4BZ9vIcas I understand it HR belt is a must, because it needs HRV measurement. I wish this could work on Verity Sense or similar optical HR bands.

@Dušan-Ković thank you for videos.
I understand the need for the HR belt. I just don’t know if the one that was sold is enough or if there is a new one now. -
@martintrail To my understanding, no.
See the FAQ:Can ZoneSense be used with any heart rate belt? Yes, any heart rate belt that provides beat-to-beat data can be used with ZoneSense. However only Suunto hr belt works in swimming with its inbuild memory.

meaning it will not work with Polar OHR (veritysense) . I will have to revive my Movesence HR belt to test this app
-
So it is only with HR belt, it does not work with optical sensor on the watch ?
-
@Antoine No OHR doesnt give accurate enough HRV data
T3 article explains it in a simple way:
“One thing to note is that ZoneSense requires a heart rate monitor for accuracy, as wrist-based optical heart rate monitors can’t measure HRV accurately during exercise. While this might feel like a step back for some, especially given how convenient wrist-based monitoring has become, the belt is essential for the depth of data ZoneSense provides.”
Also there is a ton of information in the links provided in the “ZoneSense app” page in Suuntoplus store. You will probably find all the answers to questions there.

This is probably THE big innovation in the field of sports tech this year!
Not another fake metric, but a real support for athletes during races.

Not sure about that. I’ll test it anyways.

https://www.suunto.com/en-gb/sports/News-Articles-container-page/zonesense-faq/:
"Can ZoneSense be used with an arm heart rate monitor?
Arm heart rate monitors use optical heartrate. This cannot be used to measure the beat to beat data accurately during exercise, therefore ZoneSense is not available for these sensors."
-
@Samuel-Pirttikangas Ah, I no longer have HR belt, only Verity Sense… Nevertheless, this is amazing feature that will probably push me to get HR belt again

Here’s my writeup on ZoneSense based on Suunto’s reveal webinar recently: https://www.actionhub.com/news/2024/09/18/suunto-zonesense-app-innovates-heart-stress-data-for-athletes/

I’m curious to see what it’s like now it’s “live” after it slipped in and out of beta a month or so back. Because some of the aerobic threshold estimates for my old runs are interesting. Appreciate margin of error on old stuff was discussed in the articles.
-
@Samuel-Pirttikangas Finally something I can use my HR belt for. Yes !

Not 100% sure neither, but with veritysense, there is no IBI data registered by the watch (as far as I remember, need to recheck)

Does it work with all HR belt Suunto ? Like the HR belt Suunto available before the “SUUNTO SMART” (one that i bought with a Suunto Ambit 3) ? Or it works only with SUUNTO SMART ?
Ps: now i have a Suunto Vertical.
-
@Antoine Ambit 3 belt will do. It has RR measurement and is BT.
-
@TrailEyes Link is not working…
